Sonics/Pacers

Post by vincent1469 »

Pacers send:
Phil Ford

Sonics send:
Andrew Toney
Tony Campbell
Michael Cooper
Jacques Chamberlain
Kurt Nimphius
1987 Warriors first rounder
1988 Sonics first rounder (Top 7 protected, then 1989 Top 7 protected, then 1990 unprotected)
1987 Blazers second rounder
1987 Warriors second rounder
1988 Sonics second rounder
1989 pick swap (if it doesn’t convey becomes second rounder that year)
1990 pick swap (if it doesn’t convey becomes second rounder that year)

Basically Phil Ford for a bunch of expirings and two first rounders, three second rounders, two pick swaps. Why have a future when you can have a Top 5 PG lol

 when I opened up this trade I was like  due to just the sheer amount of text that Sonics were sending.

Good rebuilding package for the Pacers, Sonics upgraded a lot because I think the gap between Toney and Ford is pretty massive. Pick swaps might not convey even if Sonics end up in lottery unless Pacers get a strong rebuild over the next two seasons, so IMO value is pretty good for both.

What happens if 1988 Sonics doesn't convey? Do the pick swaps just get pushed to 2 years after it conveys?

I was thinking that the Pacers/Sonics were good trade partners with Ford here, but that's a pretty hefty price to pay lol

If the 1st in '88 conveys then this isnt a bad trade. It could get tricky down the line but not horrible.

Future picks have been added to futures thread

Yeah the pick swaps get pushed back if the 1988 pick doesnt convey
So pick swaps are now '90 and '91? If so, how the pick swap work since the Pacers own your '90 outright? They get your 2nd?

I HATE PROTECTIONS AND CONDITIONS.

Sorry Ownage haha. If we do it like that then I just give them my first and second next year and have our swap the year after (with my swap with the Grizzlies after that).

Wouldn’t it be ‘90 unprotected to the Pacers, swaps in 91/92?

From what I know it should be.

‘90 Sonics 1st unprotected to Pacers
Pacers also own ‘91/‘92 pick swaps in favor of them.
I have a secondary swap with Sonics after in ‘92.

I say, require GMs to make a trade to invoke a protection/condition. Let's take it off the commish. You should just post it in the owed threads. And then it's up to GMs to explain the details of what you should process.
