BB: Santa Barbara Regional

Post by greenyellow »

Oregon ended up as the #3 seed in the Santa Barbara regional. They'll face a tough group of teams as UCSB, San Diego, and Fresno State all won their league championships this year.

Very reasonable draw for Ducks. Hope we can win some games.

As someone who doesn't follow college baseball too terribly much, is this among the weakest Pac-12 conferences in the last few decades? Seems like, barring a fluke, there's no title contender.

OSU is a title contender as they've been a top ten team nearly all season. But you're right, it's not an extremely deep conference like in years past.

Important insurance run in top 8. Two more and ducks to the can stay on the winners bracket

No lead is safe with Oregon’s pitching staff.

It’s quite remarkable how out of the blue, no matter how the entire game has gone, Oregon’s pitching just suddenly and completely tanks. Part of the problem is Wasikowski waits WAY too long to pull pitchers and ends up putting some relief pitcher in a tough position like he did with Moore putting him in the top of the 8th with no outs and runners on first and second. I guess this is just something we’ll have to live with as duck baseball fans, like Altman letting off the gas way too early in baseball games. I’m still waiting to see Lanning’s annoying issue.

Ducks are lucky to escape the 8th inning with a tie after the horrible start to that inning. Good job by Mercado turning things around.

That was way too scary, but glad to be going to extra innings right now!

Phew, what a win!

If I liked Oregon baseball as much as I liked Oregon football I would’ve had a heart attack. That was stressful.

That was a gritty win in extras today. Mercado really stepped up to shut down USD after they lost the lead.

Ducks advance to the regional final with the 2-1 win over the host UCSB. Oregon got some great pitching from Grinsell and Featherston tonight to limit the Gaucho's dangerous offense.

Made it interesting again late with a super scruffy top of the 9th. HBP, Double, K, BB, K, HBP (scoring 1), Groundout.

UCSB 9 runners left on, Before the final inning, Grinsell with a great QS: 7IP/3H/4W/0ER/9Ks. Winning 2-1. Will await the winner of UCSB/SD who will play earlier in the day at 6 PM
