Re: Well OSU, that didn't take long
I don't quite get their logic. If Oregon is elite and OSU loses to us, it does little to hurt their chance at playoffs. But if they beat us, it substantially helps their playoff chances.
So yeah, OSU may lose more frequently now, but their seldom wins over us will mean more (not just cuz of the talent gap, but also as I mentioned above in hopes of post season play).

Honestly, most of these people saying they want out of the Civil War probably aren't the brightest, or most knowledgeable, of football fans.

Re: Well OSU, that didn't take long
I kind of agree that it doesn't make as much sense for OSU to play this game especially as the new Pac takes shape. At the end of the year, people tend to care far more about W-L records than the context behind it. Would be in OSU's best interest to maximize those Ws, and playing Oregon every year will be a guaranteed L in most seasons.
That said, I would like to see the game continue, but playing it before students are even on campus just seems kind of dumb.

Re: Well OSU, that didn't take long
Dropping it means costing yourself millions in revenue since the home games are a guaranteed sellout. Then the return trips to Oregon don't require airfare and other travel expenses, which is further savings. Unless OSU is rolling in dough, dropping this would be an idiotic move.
