Favorite Moments From Win vs Ohio State

The brilliant move of intentionally putting a 12 man on the field to prevent a big gain. Yeah it cost us 5 yards but it also ran the clock down to 6 seconds. That extra 4 seconds probably changed the outcome of the game! Brilliant coaching move

I just listened to DL’s post game interview and he mentioned “intentional” plays and taking a penalty for their advantage. To paraphrase his words they tried to kick the ball into a player, if they missed the player it was a squib (sp) kick and they could pin them inside the 20. At the time I was thinking great fluke play or dumb penalty…… but my home was in “superbowl” mode last night and the beers and burgers and brats were flowing. What a great win for our Ducks!

Listening to Ryan Day cry and bitch like a casual fan that would have bitched if the roles were reversed and OPI wasn’t called. Making excuses for your piss poor clock management doesn’t do you or your progrum any favors. I wouldn’t piss on that piece of trash if he was on fire.

HS, College, NFL. If a WR extends one or both of his arms and that creates separation from the DB you will be called for OPI every time an official sees it….. well maybe not in the NFL LOL

His tendency to finger point instead of taking ownership is likely the source of his falling short so often in these big moments. Contrasted with Lanning, who owns everything and is always so positive and growth minded, it’s a pretty bad look.

They literally got 7 points they shouldn’t have because of the officials. They not only missed the INT but missed the fact that the TE didn’t even make the catch. So tOSU not only kept possession but were gifted a huge gain, which led to a TD.

So many amazing moments. Honestly probably the moment we won was my favorite, I could finally breathe again!

But if I had to choose an actual in-game moment I'd say the onside kick. That was just brilliant strategy from Lanning, and I wouldn't be surprised to see that be more normal when kicking with penalty yardage at your back. More importantly, though, we really needed that extra possession after being ****ed by the refs twice in the first quarter (one the INT that wasn't called, and the other a blatant PI that killed an Oregon drive). Probably a 14-point swing from those two blown calls. In a back-and-forth battle like last night, the Ducks needed something to recover from those calls. Oregon doesn't win without that onside kick to make things right.

It is interesting to get the response from Ohio State fans. They are clearly not used to losing. Apparently their corner, Denzel Burke, was considered 'lock-down' before he got torched by Oregon receivers last night, so there is a lot of cognitive dissonance in Buckeye land this morning over that. We keep hearing 'welcome to the Big 10' references, but I think Ohio State got a little taste of the Pac 12 last night, and maybe a realization that the West Coast teams aren't the only ones who will need to adjust their game.

Also, chalk me up as another one not impressed with their coach in the post-game presser leading with whining about a really clear push-off penalty. Made him look pretty small for being the head of such a big program. He's now 0-2 vs Oregon; is this how it's going to be every time he loses?

Maybe my favorite storyline from this game is the way our WRs had their way with what was supposed to be an otherworldly secondary. Like, it wasn’t even close. Tez, Stewart, and Holden all were open at will, and even when they weren’t they made the play. Stewart’s TD was just a spectacular catch; somehow instantly securing the ball and getting a foot down while being essentially tackled in the air.

There was a great shot from NBC to open the 2nd half up: Dusk at Autzen with the lights on and the last of the sun streaking across the clouds with the camera at field level looking west.

Also, for all of the young/new Oregon fans, they got to experience Autzen at its best and now they've got their own internal barometer for what the crowd is supposed to be like in games and to help keep that standard going.

I think Stewart's catch may have counted in the NFL because it looked like he got 2 taps in with his left foot even.

I was certainly critical of Stein throughout last night but I'll absolutely hammer home how well the OL did in Pass-Pro, DG did in tight pockets and our ability to attack what is in fact a very talented DB group by getting multiple explosive pass plays throughout the night and Will gets to take credit for that too.

The flip side of that is that our DB's really didn't allow any big plays in the passing game, everything that Smith/Egbuka got was tough going and never seemingly put us into a dangerous spot the way our big TD plays did for us.

My favorite moment was actually calling the TD run by our QB. I have my wife as a witness. I said" They need to do a QB run to make Ohio State worry about another runner" 5 seconds later TD. I have never been so lucky

I can imagine! What was the crown like? There was a lot of red so I was pleasantly surprised at how loud the crowd was. Through the TV it seemed like one of the loudest games ever.

Sorry for the late response. Tired as hell. Lol The crowd was incredible and loud. I was at Fright Night and this was louder/more solidly loud throughout, even impressively doing that with a much bigger contingent of opposing team fans in attendance. Better still, the crowd was, as per usual, smart about when to be loud. The vibe around this game felt like that kid that knew something that the bully kid didn't know and was waiting for the right moment to let them find out.

Shout out to Ohio States fans in attendance. They not only showed up and were loud/present but were, as always with exceptions, awesome. After the game in my section there was a lot of mutual fist bumping and hand shaking betweenfan bases. It was an epic game for the ages. Incredible.

I would have to go back and look at the film but it looked like anytime Ohio State was in cover zero at least one duck receiver on the outside just ran a straight go route. They knew they could beat The Ohio State defensive backs when there was no help over the top from a safety. It also look like the Ohio State DBs were trying to jump slant routes and inside passing game leaving them wide open to getting beat on go routes.

You are correct. The reason for this is the combination of the game film OSU watched of OR for this year and arrogance. Most of OR passing attack has been WR screen, quick outs, shallow slants and curls all at 15 yards or less with very few deep down field throws. Some on here (I’ve somewhat agreed) have called it a vanilla offense. Combine that with an overconfident aggressive secondary and you see corners and safeties bitting hard on a WR first move. Not to mention being able to run the ball was a big big help. I think our rushing attack and success last night needs more credit.

Jordan James truckin people. He may not be the fastest but damn he runs hard. Some of the runs where he punishes db’s reminds me of Onterruo vs WSU
