The games our red zone offense is bad, it’s really bad.squintsdd wrote: Sat Nov 16, 2024 9:33 pm Takeaways- 1) red zone offense is just isn't good. Gabriel likes to throw into coverage inside the 20. He's been lucky that he had receivers that can make plays.
2) Gabriel looked scared out there, and has struggled all season when pocket the collapses. If he can't see over it then he either just needs to tuck the ball and run, or find a way to get outside of it.
3) The play calling in general this season has been stale and predictable. I wonder how much of it has to do with Gabriel's limitations.
4) i had a 4th but forgot. Probably had something to do with offensive adjustments need to be made going into the 3rd quarter.
There was a stretch though of 5 drives where we didn’t even get close to the red zone. I think just moving the ball in general was ugly today. OL wasn’t terrible but they weren’t great. Gabriel missed a few open guys that I noticed, including a touchdown to James. We clearly miss Tez too. Kind of a perfect storm of things to go wrong for us.

The OL was definitely a contributor. There were multiple occasions where the guy on the edge wasn't blocked for some reason.UOducksTK1 wrote: Sat Nov 16, 2024 9:54 pmThe games our red zone offense is bad, it’s really bad.squintsdd wrote: Sat Nov 16, 2024 9:33 pm Takeaways- 1) red zone offense is just isn't good. It's mind boggling that we have supposedly 1 of the best QB's in NCAA history and a bunch of 5 star receivers (Stewart, Dickey, McMillan) and this is what we come up with.
And this shouldn't be a shocker to anyone. The offense hasn't looked good ever since Tez went down. 3 straight games of anemic performance now.

3rd straight game of ref help too. Now that's not bad.
Michigan (Stewart TD)
Maryland (Ferg TD)
Wisconsin (mystery chop block)

But in hindsight, that UW team last year didn't look like they deserved any of their wins other than the 2 times they played us. Still went to the natty though.
I guess there's still hope.

Just rest, destroy Huskies and hopefully we have Tez back!

Oregon had 470 yards of offense and 38 points against Michigan when Tez was in for 2 plays. It’s been two lackluster performances seemingly when Gabriel is forcing passes to Ferguson when things break down. Lowe, who has been playing in Tez’s place, also left the game early.

Yeah, but that’s been every week whether Tez was in or not.ducks5ever wrote:yeah you're right. they just didn't put UM away in the 2nd half.webfoots2001 wrote: Sat Nov 16, 2024 10:52 pmducks5ever wrote: And this shouldn't be a shocker to anyone. That's what the 4th thing was. Gabriel missed A LOT of open receivers this game. Part of that can be attributed to poor blocking and not having time to see them, but it seems like it's been an issue in several games. Missing James in the end zone by himself just can't happen.UOducksTK1 wrote: Sat Nov 16, 2024 9:54 pmThe games our red zone offense is bad, it’s really bad.squintsdd wrote: Sat Nov 16, 2024 9:33 pm Takeaways- 1) red zone offense is just isn't good.
