Redshirts?
It's a bye week. Letting the mind wander.
Can anyone else confirm that these players will be eligible for a redshirt this year based on their participation with just one game left and whether they've already used theirs? These are all upperclassmen.
Dave Iuli (OG)
George Silva (OT) - very unsure because of juco time
Jahlil Florence (CB)
Sione Laulea (CB)
Kam Alexander (CB)
Rodrick Pleasant (CB)
Khamari Terrell (S)
Jay Harris (RB)

Will Matthew Bedford be eligible for another year? I know he used his redshirt last year at Indiana due to injury.

Bedford will likely have a medical redshirt available.

I had no idea Kam Alexander had participated in nearly every game. I was starting to hope he could be a starter on next year's team opposite Jahlil Florence.Duck07 wrote: Mon Nov 18, 2024 6:00 pmAccording to ChileDuck's depth chart for games played this yearStevensTechU wrote: Mon Nov 18, 2024 5:16 pm It's a bye week. One name I didn't put on this list and am frankly surprised by seeing has only played in 4 games is Blake Purchase. I'm yet to see proof that Teitum Tuioti is the better player, so it's interesting to see that one is the starter and the other is on pace to redshirt.

I might be off a game on these numbers from ChileDuck since I don't see anyone who is at 11 games when going through the others.StevensTechU wrote: Tue Nov 19, 2024 9:18 am

Right now it would look like Tyler Turner and Peyton Woodyard at Safety next year with Jahlil, Sione Laulea and Rodrick Pleasant at Corner if I had to guess based on snap counts and practice reports.
I haven't tracked which End/Edge/OLB spots they've played, but one reason that Purchase might be lower is that Winston might be the primary backup for both Matayo and Teitum. Watching Mana Tuioit last week against Sprague was kind of a laugher game wise, but he's usually always near the ball and knowing the scheme can be a big reason why some guys play and others don't. I remember Dexter Manley struggled to know even the basics of the defense even though he was one of the more athletic DE we had at the time.

Re: Redshirts?
I wonder what the odds of Harmon coming back are. Losing Burch will be tough, but a line of Tuioti/Purchase, Harmon, Washington, Matayo would be among the top in the country.

Can Uiagalelei declare for the draft after this year, or does he have to play another year?

He’s not eligible for the draft until after next season.RanDux wrote: Wed Nov 20, 2024 3:21 pm Can Uiagalelei declare for the draft after this year, or does he have to play another year?

Good to hear. He is a beast! We definitely got the better of the Uiagalelei brothers!OregonFan4Life wrote:He’s not eligible for the draft until after next season.RanDux wrote: Wed Nov 20, 2024 3:21 pm Can Uiagalelei declare for the draft after this year, or does he have to play another year?

Re: Redshirts?
Cool to speculate, but in today’s landscape, Lanning could bring in any number of portal dudes, and we could lose some of these guys as well. Free agency is obviously real. I hope we retain a bunch of these guys, but look at our D now. How many starters weren’t here last year? No doubt Lanning will be combing the portal, regardless of which Ducks stay or go. I can still see large turnover.

Re: Redshirts?
Are all the class of 2024 recruits redshirting? I thought Flowers or someone at any of the 3 levels would at least contribute some. That was a talented class, especially on the DL.
