I'd rather play winner of Indiana/ND than winner of Tennessee/OSU. Hopefully Tennessee pulls it out against OSU because it's never great to play a team seeking revenge.

Re: CFP bracket set
Absolutely hosed. The #1 seed without a doubt has the toughest path. But like Dan said on ESPN, winning a Natty ain't supposed to be easy and there's nothing we could do about the seeding this year; it is what it is. And if we were going to battle Ohio State again, better it be early in the playoff and closet to home (Pasadena) than in the Orange or Peach Bowl or ATL.

Re: CFP bracket set
I'm just really hoping for an upset somewhere, because aside from the teams we play, we'd be playing them in their home states (Texas in Dallas, Georgia in Atlanta). Imagine getting Those teams in Portland or Seattle. Changes a lot.

ESPN is in mourning over Alabama while other networks were over it before the playoff field was even published.

Re: CFP bracket set
It's the major downside for West Coast teams and the CFP being tied to the NY6 Bowls - only the Rose Bowl and FIesta Bowls are west of Texas.StevensTechU wrote: Sun Dec 08, 2024 11:32 am I'm just really hoping for an upset somewhere, because aside from the teams we play, we'd be playing them in their home states (Texas in Dallas, Georgia in Atlanta). They absolutely have to be playing more games in LA, Phoenix, Vegas etc as part of any "fairness doctrine" with these games.StevensTechU wrote: Sun Dec 08, 2024 11:32 am I'm just really hoping for an upset somewhere, because aside from the teams we play, we'd be playing them in their home states (Texas in Dallas, Georgia in Atlanta). I think the easiest change with 12 teams is to make the QF round a home-site game. I doubt any kind of "re-seeding" will be changed but I could be wrong.

Would be funny if Oregon,ASU and Boise made it to the semis. 3 of the 4 (sort of west coast teams)

Re: CFP bracket set
It's just wild how shamelessly these ESPN honks were promoting the SEC after brackets were announced. "You just don't know unless you're on the inside." They were talking about how hard it is to play vs Georgia one week and then Vanderbilt the next.
Yeah, that mighty powerhouse of Vanderbilt. So rough! The arrogance is astounding though, as if nobody else from any other conference understands playing consecutive games against dangerous opponents.
Willie Taggart is a dick.

Re: CFP bracket set
The way ASU is playing, I would not be particularly shocked to see them win its quarterfinal game vs. the Clemson/Texas winner. And if the Ducks prevail in the quarters, would be pretty cool to see the Ducks play the Sun Devils in the semifinals, Lanning vs. his former OC.

Re: CFP bracket set
This is another reason I'm not too worried about the Bracket. All of these other teams have multiple losses and are capable of losing along the way.Greenblood wrote: Sun Dec 08, 2024 3:23 pm The way ASU is playing, I would not be particularly shocked to see them win its quarterfinal game vs. the Clemson/Texas winner. Ever since Kirby beat Dan in that first game and made that friggin comment about "just having better players" I've wanted to Dan to be able to beat him and use that line back. 'Kirby knows that we've just got better players over here" Would make for one hell of a finish to 16-0!

Re: CFP bracket set
Still think they should just seed teams based on their true CFP rankings instead of giving the top 4 conference champs the automatic first round byes. It'd get rid of a lot of the controversy around the #1 team not having an easier road.

Re: CFP bracket set
1. WOW, ouch. Number one seed is supposed to get a more favorable path, and it looks to me like our FIRST playoff game is going to be Ohio State (Yes, I don't believe in Tennessee). Regardless, I am not upset, if we are going to win the Natty, we are going to have to PROVE we are the best team in the nation. If Ohio State beats us in round two, so be it, we were not the best team in the nation. Still, I believe Ohio State is the second best team in the nation, even down two starting offensive lineman. Their receiving corps is insane. I have so much respect for Egbuka, Smith and Tate, wow, those guys are truly elite.
I thought two week ago this was heading to Lanning vs Kirby, and it's looking more and more like that is how it is going to be. Does Lanning beat his mentor or does Kirby put Lanning in his place? Without their starting quarterback makes Georgia human again. This is going to be a wild ride!!!!
