Ugh, not interested in him at all. Doesn't seem like he'd fit with the culture here. Doesn't come off as a big team guy, or someone that's willing to put in the work.UOducksTK1 wrote: Mon Dec 09, 2024 10:08 am DL Bear Alexander (from USC/Georgia) is supposed to visit Oregon on the 22nd.

Completely agree. He has all the talent under the sun but seems like he only hurts your team.droop10 wrote: Mon Dec 09, 2024 10:37 amUgh, not interested in him at all. Maybe Lanning is the guy to get Bear Alexander to reach his potential, and if so he could be really good, but I agree it seems too high of a risk to take a guy like Bear.

And what does he do to your NIL budget? If he comes cheap, maybe, but if he wants to make what USC was paying him, I'm a hard "no thanks."OregonFan4Life wrote: Mon Dec 09, 2024 11:35 am Maybe Lanning is the guy to get Bear Alexander to reach his potential, and if so he could be really good, but I agree it seems too high of a risk to take a guy like Bear.

I say the coaches have a convo with WSU transferring QB John Mateer for fun. That guy would be pretty solid in our offense.

Eh, I think Moore is their guy. I don't see them getting a QB in the portal, unless there's a guy that knows he won't likely start and is willing to come in as depth, which is hard to find.betty white wrote: Mon Dec 09, 2024 12:21 pm I say the coaches have a convo with WSU transferring QB John Mateer for fun. Did Lanning recruit Alexander while at Georgia? Maybe there is a history there that leads DL to believe he can succeed where others failed.

We can kiss any future QB recruiting goodbye if we tap into the portal again for a QB. Dante/Austin/Luke/Jaron-Keawe/Akili ... let the cream rise to the top and ride with one of those dudes.

This. Coaches will have to ride with Moore and unless Stein bounces for a HC job we’re going to find out how good he is at developing a young QB.DmoneyDuck wrote: Mon Dec 09, 2024 1:05 pm We can kiss any future QB recruiting goodbye if we tap into the portal again for a QB. Re: Transfer portal targets?
It's also just a full QB room. You typically have 4 scholarship QBs, on the roster, so with 5 they may already be banking on someone hitting the portal.

I really like what little we’ve seen from Dante and Novosad.

Just a hunch but I predict Akili will be the best of the qbs Oregon has signed.

They didn't want Motatavo to go. They did everything they could to get him to stay.wepto wrote:Have to strongly disagree with this. OT and Edge are easily the hardest positions to pull in top talent without having to spend big money.
And how long has it been since Oregon has had a TE that is a strong blocker and pass catcher?
Look at what Brock Bowers did. Absolutely dominant. Never a liability on the field. Lack of TE blocking is probably one of the things is one of the things that has limited the run game these past few years (since before Breeland, really). Letting Matavao go was a huge mistake. He's better than Ferg. It's so much harder to defend a guy who is a good receiver/good blocker than it is a guy who is a great receiver / bad blocker.
