I think most of us genuinely believe he can take us to a national title. (2026 I think is the year most are pointing to). Go Ducks.

Re: Lanning cashes in?
If he does Indeed stay at Oregon for at least the length of his contract (only place that makes me nervous is the Kansas City Chiefs once Reid retires, maybe Georgia a little bit if Kirby moves on) then I would be shocked if he hasn’t won a natty in that time frame with the momentum and recruiting he has at Oregon right now.GrantDuck wrote:I think most of us genuinely believe he can take us to a national title. Aren’t there also rumors of an additional side deal Coach has with Uncle Phil where he gets a vested amount of Nike stock each year he stays? Either way. Good for Coach and his family. He deserves it.

The article said his buyout is still the same? DL sounds like he really enjoys Eugene and genuinely wants be here for the long run. I believe him but circumstances always change and we've heard promises/been burned before.

I think we can put the worry about him leaving anytime soon to bed. He's not going anywhere until at least his kids are out of high school. Besides, where would he possibly go? He has deeper roots in Eugene now than anywhere else he's been.

This was a bit of a red flag for me. I honestly can’t see him leaving for a different CFB program unless things change (less support from the school or PK, feels he can’t win here, etc.). However, if the NFL comes calling (KC in particular), I could definitely see him leaving.alxtw wrote: Thu Mar 06, 2025 10:22 pmThe article said his buyout is still the same? Side note, but the next HC of KC is probably not a great job. You’ll potentially have an aging Mahomes, sky-high expectations from fans, and the unfortunate situation of following Andy Reid.

That is difficult to overlook the buyout amount not moving. I also didn't realize how much smaller his buyout is than some other college coaches. Jedd Fisch has the nation's 10th-biggest buyout at $40 mil, according to chatgpt.
However, his raise puts him near the very top of highest-paid coaches and he makes more than he'd make at many NFL gigs.

Willie Taggart is a dick.

well there is the buyout..and then the rumored nike stock... which if true raises the true cost of the buyout by a lot.

They made bearer bonds illegal 40 years ago. There is no secret Nike stock and it's part of the absurd rumors that always exist around Phil.spacefrog13x wrote: Wed Mar 19, 2025 9:24 am well there is the buyout..and then the rumored nike stock... which if true raises the true cost of the buyout by a lot.

Re: Lanning cashes in?
His buyout is $20M, that’s still high. I’m not worried, Dan doesn’t strike me as a snake oil salesman, he’s happy in Eugene, has all of the resources to succeed and be the town hero by bringing us our first natty, and he’s fully aware how damn green the grass is in Eugene.
Personally the only two jobs that would worry me if they opened up is Georgia which I’d say 20% chance he’d leave Oregon for and the Kansas City Chiefs, which I’d say 50% chance he leaves for. Hard to say no to your childhood team. Every other team in both college and NFL I say <5% chance he’d leave Oregon for.

There's more to Dan's contract than what is public

By law there can't be. He's the highest paid public employee in Oregon.lmduck wrote: Thu Mar 20, 2025 7:38 am There's more to Dan's contract than what is public

Re: Lanning cashes in?
Of course his salary with the U of O is a matter of public record, but if Lanning has a side hustle going on with Nike or Uncle Phil, I don't know why any of that would have to be made public. He has always said stuff like 'I am well taken care of at Oregon' even when his contract was smaller that sort of implied there was more than met the eye going on. It's been awhile since I reviewed Oregon statutes, but I don't believe public employees have to reveal all streams of income like people running for office do.
