And the umps have officially won this game for Utah Valley. Congrats umps. Wasikowski needs to publicly call this crew out.

While the umps did legitimately cost Oregon the game, Oregon has plenty to blame themselves for between errors, wild pitching, questionable coaching decisions, constantly chasing bad pitches. Can’t expect to win in the postseason playing like that.
With that said, Wasikowski still needs to publicly call out these umpires.

Oregon left it up to the umps when they had plenty of chances to play cleanly and not allow Utah Valley to lead like that.OregonFan4Life wrote: Fri May 30, 2025 9:34 pm While the umps did legitimately cost Oregon the game, Oregon has plenty to blame themselves for between errors, wild pitching, questionable coaching decisions, constantly chasing bad pitches. I 100% agree, I mean the umps did legit prevent this from being a tied game and maybe even a win for Oregon with that piss poor call, but yeah Oregon should look in the mirror.greenyellow wrote:Oregon left it up to the umps when they had plenty of chances to play cleanly and not allow Utah Valley to lead like that.OregonFan4Life wrote: Fri May 30, 2025 9:34 pm While the umps did legitimately cost Oregon the game, Oregon has plenty to blame themselves for between errors, wild pitching, questionable coaching decisions, constantly chasing bad pitches. I don’t know what it is but for some reason under Wasikowski Oregon has a way of sabotaging themselves in the postseason by giving up unearned runs and too many walks. Don’t know why that is but it just seems to happen every year.

They can get away with it at times in the regular season but with the double elimination nature of the postseason, it's not a great way to play. It's almost as if they had a hangover from the long roadtrip to Iowa and then Nebraska.

Yikes, I guess it being seeded in top 8 didn’t really matter…

Beavs also lost to Saint Mary's tonight so not a great day for Oregon teams hosting regionals.UOducksTK1 wrote: Fri May 30, 2025 9:53 pm Yikes, I guess it being seeded in top 8 didn’t really matter…

This is the fourth postseason in a row we’ve seen it under Wasikowski, obviously I want him to stay at Oregon long term but at a certain point do we just have to recognize this is a weakness in how he coaches? It’s just weird.greenyellow wrote:They can get away with it at times in the regular season but with the double elimination nature of the postseason, it's not a great way to play. Looks like that awful call is being discussed on Reddit and Twitter a lot. I hope some sort of repercussion comes out of this but I doubt anything will happen.

Here's the full explanation from the NCAA. It will just make you even angrier. Basically Aroz was supposed to slide earlier to avoid the hard contact.

Sort of what I thought. You're supposed to pretend the defensive player doesn't exist and slide the same no matter what, as if you're sliding into an empty base.

Grinsell gives up a 2-run HR in B2 but Oregon gets a run back in T3 on a Hellman single. 2-1 Cal Poly.
