Why is The Duck visiting Oceania?

Post by Thomallister1291 »

Hello, I'm a recently joined user that has a HUGE liking for the Oregon Ducks (even if it only started due to me being a Disney fan) and I'm hoping that I will be able to join the fans' flock, I felt that I had to do this introduction in case some people feel confused at my presence

So anyways, as many of us follow every single bit of Duck tweets, y'all may have noticed the Twitter account of our mascot has been posting upside down tweets while doing absolutely silly stuff, which I'm sure has confused a lot of more casual fans, this is because The Duck is visiting Australia and New Zealand right now, but the true question is, why?

Most people haven't figured out by any means why The Duck is visiting the Oceanian continent right now, I did have a theory which seems to get more and more unlikely as time goes on, but it's still a theory nonetheless.

One of our fellow conference members, Michigan, recently announced they had plans to play a football game in Germany next year (albeit the announcement came out of nowhere), so it immediately led me to think the posts were meant to be teasing a game in Australia, albeit it's currently not pointing to that, due to nature of The Duck's account, there being no mention of the athletic programs anywhere and the fact he didn't exclusively visit Australia, as his three most recent posts show he's in New Zealand.

We have no clarity of when the upside down posts will end, but once the dust clears, what do you think were the purpose of them?

Welcome aboard.

As far as any specific reason goes, I'm not sure if there's a grand reason beyond simply being an Ambassador and promoting the school abroad. You could certainly make the case that AUS/NZ produce a fair amount of college/pro athletes because of their amateur sports model they use but I don't think the Michigan/Germany slant is part of it. I've heard the speculation on that game is partially due to the Wagner brothers but I think its just about money and nothing else.

Maybe Lanning is trying to build a pipeline for the best punters. (Not sure if I am joking)

Ok after thinking about it punters came to mind because of football season, but probably more to the point is Oceania is a very valuable source of quality collegiate Women athletes. This is particularly true of Track and Basketball. Jessica Hull is my favorite recent Women's trackster, not just for her track success but for setting the World Record for smiling. And how could one not love someone who was born in Wollongong.

Going to find a Prop or other Forward to find the next bruising running back. (Haloti Nagta cut his teeth as a Rugby forward)
