Oklahoma is a head scratcher, they've had two losing seasons in the last three years. And their recruiting has been pretty bad by their standards (no top 10 recruiting class in the last 4 classes).
Also I think Jeanty made Boise seem a lot hotter than they were last year. I think they dip too.

I don't know enough about their roster this season, but they've really struggled in all facets of the offense. Their offensive line has been downright bad and there hasn't been skill talent to make up for it (running backs have been putrid, their receivers lackluster, their QBs highly touted but green). Mateer is going to be a guy who elevates the floor but might be too mistake prone to have a high ceiling, so we'll see.UOducksTK1 wrote: Tue Aug 12, 2025 2:23 pm Oklahoma is a head scratcher, they've had two losing seasons in the last three years. For Boise, even if they fall off, they were so far ahead of the rest of the MWC that they could end up with a sterling record again.

Boise schedule is so easy, this is a fair point. They'll lose to Notre Dame, and probably @USF or @Utah state. Having a 2 loss season or better isn't a huge feat for them.

He ended up only getting 20 rushing attempts last year, but I think Sire Gaines is going to end up with 1500 rushing yards this season and really blunt the loss of Jeanty. The offensive line returns largely intact from the group that blocked for Jeanty, and the passing game wasn't much to write home about last year and I don't know if that's different this season. The defense is where I think they'll take a sizable step back. Ahmed Hassanein was a hidden gem that they found in recruiting, but he's off to the NFL, and the nose tackle Herbert Gums was one of those guys like a Jordon Scott who had no real shot at the NFL but was a really good, veteran college lineman. Jayden Virgin-Morgan was first team MWC at DE, so they're not completely barren.
If they were in the Big 12, I would honestly say they've got a real shot at winning it, so given that they're instead playing in the MWC, I think they have a great shot at going 11-1 again.
