Jahlil Florence announces he's entering portal

In no surprise, CB Jahlil Florence will be entering the portal. He's been buried behind a bunch of young CBs and has only played a handful of games so it doesn't hurt them that much.

I don’t understand why transferring players don’t play out the balance of season. You can’t play with another team until next year anyway, so why not see what happens. If someone gets injured and you come in and play well, your NIL value will skyrocket. If nothing else, you look like a team player.

I imagine this is a case of trying to maintain another year of eligibility. He can use last year as a medical redshirt and still redshirt this year to leave him with 2 years as opposed to 1 if he continued to just play occasional special teams snaps.
