I don't think it's our schedule that stands out as much as how we've beaten the teams we have played.

The win at Penn State also showed resilience and determination against a very talented team, even though they're not currently playing to their potential.

We'll have stronger teams on our schedule later in the season to prove ourselves further, but right now I think we're about where we should be.

Then again, that is a BCS era line of thought. At one loss we are still, "win and you're in". Our SOS is good enough that it will come down to winning out. Heck, after Ohio St got dominated by Michigan the entire state wanted him fired, and a month later they are raising the National Championship trophy. The ranking don't matter. Now if we were an 8, 9 win team, then yes, I would be concerned, but I'm not. Lanning will have them ready.

Ohio St? Texas is just like PSU
Bama? UGA is quality but not what they have been
Miami? ND and fsu are fools gold
I mean whether we like it or not, all three of those teams have a top 20 win. Obviously Alabama is probably having the best resume right now for one loss teams with a road win at Georgia.
We are halfway through the season and Miami just lost to an unranked team. This is why you don’t make threads after UO loses to arguably the 2 team in America
I’ve never commented on what Oregon would/should eventually be ranked.

I think I was just surprised that perception of rankers had us at 8th. I was expecting 10/11.

And Miami sucks and always will with MC.

And fair enough! I just feel like if Alabama had beat Penn State and then Penn State lost 3 in a row with losses to teams like Mississippi State and Florida, we’d be calling that win at Penn State less valuable.

And at the end of the day, will playoff committee see the Penn State win as valuable if Penn State ends up with 5 loses? Cuz again I don’t think so. We’ll see…

It's a legit question. My response would be that Oregon's biggest wins so far are on the road, one in a super hostile environment. That isn't nothing. Also, at least one team just behind the ducks has already lost and is having trouble with Vanderbilt and might lose again. I think Oregon will be fine and are not necessarily worse than Indiana. I'm looking for the ducks to do what Ohio State did last year and pull it all together at the right time of the season.

Oregon seems to receive the favorable bias that used to be solely for SEC teams!

This bodes well for our chances as a two-loss team.

But as others have said....either we get it together as a team and are able to compete in the playoff or we don't and then get smacked around.

Still 6th. And only one with against an FBS team that doesn’t have a losing record.

The CFP playoff rankings come out tomorrow, so we'll see where the committee has them ranked.

I expect us to be in the 8-10 range, but we have a schedule remaining that can bring us up higher if we win out.

We have the toughest remaining schedule of top 10 teams. Hope that makes you happier

This. While Oregon's remaining schedule isn't exactly a playoff gauntlet, it's still going to be tough. If they win out they will definitely secure a spot in the playoffs.

With those rankings coming out, what's going to be the reason that the committee uses to put Notre Dame ahead of Miami? I was sort of astonished at the AP poll having Notre Dame #10 and Miami #18 when they're both 2-loss teams and Miami beat them soundly head-to-head. Has Notre Dame beat a really good team since that game? No. Is Miami getting the doors blown off of them? Also no. It seems to just really speak to the timing of your losses counting for way more than it should.

I agree. I wouldn't say that Miami beat them "soundly". I think the final score was 27-24, or something like that. But I do agree that head to head matchups should prevail over all.

It would be interesting to see how far Indiana would drop if they were to lose a game since Oregon is sitting at #6.

Also, Notre Dame did beat a now ranked USC team since then.

The final score of that game was closer than the game itself. Miami controlled it the whole way and Notre Dame snuck in the back door to make it look close. Since that game, Miami beat the brakes off of South Florida and ND beat USC comfortably. Those are comparable wins, as a game between those two teams is probably a toss up.

My point is to say that ND hasn't really done much and will likely coast into the playoffs with the same record of a team they lost to. Seems out of whack.

It is out of whack. It seems like there's almost always favortism shown toward Notre Dame. Likely because of their huge fan base and TV money.

Can we afford to lose one more game, or nah?
