I think they'll simply swap places since it was a 3 point game between the top seeds and everything you'd expect a 1-2 battle to go.

I'd also hope they'll avoid a few of those conference matchups in lieu of non-conf show-downs and that Notre Dame/Miami are both in and Bama is out.

I don’t think they’ll drop Ohio State to 4, I bet they’ll stay ahead of Texas Tech and be the 3 seed.

Ok but in this scenario we would play Miami at home and Texas Tech would still be the next round.

I expect Indiana and Ohio State to flip spots and still be 1-2 in the standings because they are the two best teams. I just said that, but this result makes me feel, maybe for the first time, that Oregon can win a natty this year if the cards fall right. Oregon can beat Indiana, and now we know Ohio State is beatable as well. I'm glad it looks like Oregon will get the 5th seed and the tune up game vs James Madison, who I think Oregon could beat in their sleep.

I think Alabama will get left out in favor of Miami for a few reasons. One, Alabama has three losses now and has lost two of the last four and this time by three touchdowns. If we are having a playoff to see who the best team is, Alabama is not it. Two, the ACC is now without a team unless Miami is included. After the job they did on Florida State a couple of years ago so that Alabama could be included, I can't see them turning around and doing it again, especially when the SEC has four other teams in the field. The playoff should err towards having at least one representative from each of the four major conferences, and I think they will. People are sick of Alabama getting special treatment.

Top 5 conference champs get auto bids. With Duke being so shitty and ranked low as a result, 2 G5 conference champs are ranked higher than them and fall in those 5 conference champs. College football playoff structure is so crazy when you think about it. A team could make it from a conference where neither championship game participant makes it. These dumbass super conferences have really screwed up what would have been a good system with reasonably sized conferences, where you didn’t have to deal with 5 way tiebreakers because half the teams don’t play each other.

Another crazy thought is there is a team in college football that can set up their entire schedule to give them the best shot at making a playoff. Notre Dame in theory could just create their own shitty schedule that would allow them to plow through the regular season unchallenged and waltz into the playoffs every year. Just a flawed system all around, but what can ya do. I still love it.

Agreed. No one should sleep on Texas Tech. That's a very good football team all around. They have a very good offense and an elite defense.

Granted, they haven't played a very tough schedule, but with the exception of the ASU loss (w/o their starting QB), all of their wins have been by 20 points or more.

They beat Utah and Houston by 24 and BYU twice.

First time I've watched the playoff ranking show. First ten minutes is ESPN shilling for Alabama to get in. This is awful.

Use the AP if you want to do rankings. Better yet, use a model where you earn your way in and don't leave it up to votes.

I'm not upset about Alabama being in only because they're on the other side of the bracket with Ohio State. Alabama is the kind of team that could ball out and knock the Buckeyes out of this.

But dang, putting in a 3-loss team that just lost by 20 is nasty work.
