Agreed. Based on where teams are playing, it looks like they're picking the venue most likely to be neutral/favorable for the higher seeded team so all of those locations make sense.

Perhaps ND should look into joining a conference. I don’t feel bad for them.
Or perhaps the powers that be are trying here to force that upon them by denying them this spot.

Looks like they have decided not to play in a bowl game. Interesting decision.

I do recall hearing something to the effect that "'Bama also had one of the worst losses, v. Florida State."

Notre Dame had a self-imposed ban on bowl games until 1970.

Ya agreed it makes sense, but I was excited at the possibility of going to Phoenix for a semifinals game!

Simulation of the BCS standings compared to the committee's rankings.

Not sure if you are trying to highlight the similarities or the differences...?

The reality is the CFP is just a re-branding of the BCS with the same principal interest holders.

BCS Properties LLC is the legal holding company that owns and manages the intellectual property, trademarks, and overall assets of the College Football Playoff (CFP), which replaced the Bowl Championship Series (BCS) in 2014. It continues to control CFP operations, including governance through a Board of Managers and Management Committee, as confirmed by official CFP documentation and trademark records.

The BCS respect for James Madison is about the largest noticeable difference while not liking Houston the way the committee did.

Most noticeable to me is just how similar the simulated BCS and the Committee's rankings are. I would not have expected that.

Thanks, STU.

Need to blow up this whole system. Rotten to the core.

Is there one commentator on ESPN that isn't an apologist for the SEC/CFP system? The only one I've ever seen is Booger Mcfarland. How does anyone bear to watch analysis/commentary anymore? These people have no independent thoughts. It's simply them defending the rankings and then they criticize anyone who has a differing opinion.

Additionally, you have the CFP committee representative get on TV and give the most illogical and incongruent rationale for the rankings. I don't necessarily blame him since he has to run cover for a committee that makes decisions based on $$ and SEC rather than merit, but he looks like a bumbling fool everytime he gets on TV.

It's a shame cuz college football is such a fun sport to watch and these commentators/committees makes it almost unbearable.
