My distaste for tOSU
Maybe this should be under “The Other Guys” but after:
- seeing the way their fanbase treated Day last year (he is by all accounts a decent human being and is undefeated against B1G opponents not named IU, UO or UM)
- the way they freaked out about possibly losing Henry. (Some of it was just…VILE)
- the threats and nasty DM’s they sent to their kicker after the IU game
I now have an extremely strong dislike of that entire fanbase. USC fans perpetually live 25-40 years in the past, Husky fans are by nature awful & depraved humans and the barkrats are annoyingly jealous younger siblings but I don’t know that I’ve seen a fanbase rub me the wrong way in such a short period of time.

Brother, I’ve got news for you. On twitter, you’ll find the worst of every fan base. I live in Columbus. 95% of Buckeye fans are regular, old people with hobbies and reasonable opinions. Like with any fan base, the farther from the city you get, the more likely you are to see houses painted school colors, front yards littered with beer cans, and large-bellied men with loud opinions on sports… among other things.
I’ll even go as far as to say that, while I actively root against tOSU and looove talking trash with their fans, Columbus, in cold weather, is a hell of a lot more fun when the Buckeyes are winning.

I was pretty unimpressed by Iowa fans this year.

They were alright at the game. For sure there were some bad apples and annoying fans, but nothing more than most other fan bases in an intense/close game.

Re: My distaste for tOSU
Ohio State fans have a weird mix, like 90-95% are chill and kind and good fans to be around, but their 5-10% ravenous portion are more ravenous than almost every other school, and somehow those crazy people end up being the ones who get their own shows/podcasts as “insiders” who sound like complete doofuses outside of their Ohio State echo chamber.
I personally don’t think Ohio State fans compare to LSU fans, which to me is the most hostile and psycho fanbase in college football.

It was mentioned it in another thread. Penn state fans are on anther level. They idolize a dead coach that covered up some of the most disgusting allegations and crimes that have ever taken place within a college football program. Then they chased off a coach that was actually a decent human being, that stuck with them and built them back up through the sanctions, all because the team quit on him after losing a close game.

There's also the question about whether what OSU did was worse than Penn State as they abused far more athletes than at Penn State, to say nothing of the harm that Les Wexner wrought through Jeffrey Epstein as his early financier.

Yeah. This is terrifying stuff. tOSU (the school more than the FB team) has enough clout in Cbus that there’s been minimal local media coverage of this. I’d bet most people around town have no idea all of this is even happening.Duck07 wrote:There's also the question about whether what OSU did was worse than Penn State as they abused far more athletes than at Penn State, to say nothing of the harm that Les Wexner wrought through Jeffrey Epstein as his early financier.

Also, between this, Nassar at MSU, and the whole thing at PSU, what a dark era in B1G sports.
