This board:
“We have superior athletes, why don’t we just line up and go at ‘em!”
Also this board:
“This is too predictable, where is the creativity? Where is the misdirection?”
I think it’s part of our unique charm.

That may be because they don't have the talent when they leave that they had at Oregon. Just a guess.ducks5ever wrote: Tue Dec 02, 2025 7:23 pm Not sure you guys would be as optimistic about Stein if we went 9-3 this year, which could have easily happened (Penn State, Iowa). Not that this matters since the ink is already dry and people only live in the present. Regardless, I wish him well on his new adventure. Something will have really hit the fan if I miss him next season.
Just a minor tidbit to add here: pretty much every single Oregon coordinator/HC over the last decade who left for a different program did worse (mostly significantly worse) than how they performed while here at Oregon. That's just the magic of this place. Only exception is Dillingham who is doing all right so far. I don't expect Stein to buck this trend, but more power to him if he can pull it off.

They also dont have the coaching and support staff, facilities, donors, nike, and relatively sane fans that they had at Oregon. All of those also make many coaches seem better than they are.SuperDuck wrote: Wed Dec 03, 2025 6:06 amThat may be because they don't have the talent when they leave that they had at Oregon. “Relatively sane fans”?
We have 3 years worth of trashing on a coordinator who put 2 completely different skillset QB’s in New York, who ran a Top 3 offense with another new QB and then finished this year beating 3 Top 25 teams (2 on the road) while at various points dealing with the loss of the starting C, Top TE, Top 2 WR’s, the RT, the LT…

Sounds like Stein is taking Director of Recruiting Pat Biondo with him to be the GM at Kentucky. Is anyone concerned about this affecting recruiting at Oregon?

It's next man up, just like the on the field positions. There's always going to be churn. The program has to find the right guy for the job.Phalanx wrote: Thu Dec 04, 2025 11:11 am Sounds like Stein is taking Director of Recruiting Pat Biondo with him to be the GM at Kentucky. Yes, relative to SEC team fans, I would consider ducks fans to be pretty grounded.bdkipe wrote: Wed Dec 03, 2025 11:16 am “Relatively sane fans”?

Marshall Malchow is the name I'd be worried about from everything we hear behind the scenes with the details. From everything I've gathered, he seems like the type who probably went into the season with a contingency folder for potential coordinators for Dan and Rob knowing that there would be a possibility and thus prepare for it then, rather than now.Phalanx wrote: Thu Dec 04, 2025 11:11 am Sounds like Stein is taking Director of Recruiting Pat Biondo with him to be the GM at Kentucky. Will Stein is taking multiple staffers with him. His latest is Parker Fleming, in addition to Pat Biondo and Cutter Leftwich.

His playcalling has been trash the last 2 games in particular in the redzone.
