I'm sure the coaches have a contingency plan. If nothing else, pump him full of fluids and get him out there.rockthief wrote: Thu Jan 08, 2026 9:56 pm If Whittington is sick and does not play, that means we have only two backs, neither of whom are starters. One is number three and the other is in the portal. ugh.
Remember when Michael Jordon put up over 40 points in the playoffs when he had the flu? He basically collapsed at the end. Whittington's a tough dude. I think he'll be ready to go.

Here's a good review of the Ducks/Indiana game 1 and preview of game 2.

Thanks, Hoosier. It feels like this is the real title game, but may whoever wins beat the snot out of Mario. You guys have had a great season. Good luck.

I still think we can win, but it feels like the most Oregon thing ever that a major skill group is decimated right before the pinnacle game of the season. I just keep telling myself that Hill and Harris are still running behind the same O-line, and that as long as Stein calls a smart game they still should still have some room to work.
My gut feeling is that Whittington will power through his illness, but man, that makes me worried about the whole offense having the flu even if we were to win and advance. Just awful timing. Brutal.

In the video I posted, the guy's thoughts on the first game largely mirror mine. In previewing the game today, the data point he brings to the table that I thought was compelling was that Dierre Hill has one pass block rep on the season. Wasnt quite a few players sick or had food poisioning a few days before we played ohio state in the playoffs last year?
The typical curse of Oregon sports…

The issues at RB have me feeling pretty pessimistic about this game. It would be one thing if we were playing an Ole Miss or Miami that have real flaws we could still leverage, but the whole problem Indiana presents is that they kind of do absolutely everything well.
We don’t have any obvious advantages over them and with a skeleton RB room, our biggest strength is now likely a weakness.

According to the media, Indiana winning is a forgone conclusion. They’ve moved on to the title game and are already discussing whether Indiana can beat Miami.

On game day, we drink a beer or two and throw all logic out the window. Vibes is all we need. Go Ducks.

I see Lanning with that on a giant screen right now in the hotel conference rooms with the entire team.dthomas=ddixon wrote: Fri Jan 09, 2026 11:58 am According to the media, Indiana winning is a forgone conclusion.
