Maybe I'll eat crow, but I don't think Oregon is a legitimate landing spot for him. He's not better than what we've got and he's super expensive. I would guess that he just put the names of schools with big budgets to raise his asking price.

He was shooting a video(the content wasn't specified/unknown) in Miami a couple weeks ago which the Colorado podcasters were upset about wondering why. This was prior to him entering the transfer portal so if that was indeed the case the landing spot would be obvious.

I just don't get why he'd come here and play off the bench a whole year.
My bet is he just listed teams that he thinks have a lot of money. I can't see him coming here at all.
That makes more sense. If he was a FR or SO, then it's possible he could come and be more or less promised a starting role after this upcoming season. But for a dude to be a senior, yeah no way he comes here.

Good article/interview on why so many DL are leaving. Summary: because our reserves would be starters making starter money elsewhere.

I totally get Tionne Gray and Terrance Green transferring, they were the backup guys expecting to start if Washington and Bear leaves; but since they’re staying their snap count won’t really change. So now they get the opportunity to go play for a big program and start, so I get it.

The two I don’t fully understand are Jericho Johnson and Xadavien Sims. With the departure of Gray and Green they’re gonna have an increased snap count and be the two guys behind Washington and Bear and Tuioti has shows that he likes to rotate guys on their interior DLine. To me seems better to be backup DLine at Oregon with significant snap counts as sophomores than go try and be starters at a Boise State or South Florida or wherever they end up. We have the resources to develop them into elite DLineman. Feels like they’re being short minded and impatient. Hopefully Lanning can convince to think again.

I have no intel, but what do you think the backup role at Oregon pays and what do you think the starter at Boise gets paid?

It will be interesting to see how this scenario evolves when we get to a 'super league', which I think is inevitable and the goal of TPTB. With what I estimate to be 40 teams in the top tier league, there will be fewer opportunities to chase the bigger paycheck and the potential pool competing for those spots, including those from lower leagues, will be more or less the same. I think it's pretty clear that some regulation is needed to keep NIL & transfers in a workable parameter for teams And players. It really sucks that players will abandon their team during a playoff run to chase NIL!

First off, maybe my assessment is wrong and they’ll get a chance to start at a P4 school, maybe a lower one, but at least a P4 school. I don’t know if that’s likely though.

Second, just looking it up online, it appears the average NIL deal for a G6 starting DLineman js $230k, which Oregon would easily match for the 3rd and 4th DL on the roster. Plus, beyond that, what program is more likely to prepare you for a starring role at a place like Oregon and the NFL? Starting against G6 OLines won’t develop you as much as playing backup snaps against B1G OLines that will have multiple future NFL starters, and that’s not even considering the training facilities and training staff Oregon has which is far superior to anything you’ll find in the G6 schools.

I would venture if they go to a G6 school, it's to start and hopefully showcase enough to transfer to P4 school and get paid.

But again, I don’t think that’s a wise option compared to being a backup and playing around 15-20 snaps a game for Oregon. You can get paid, get quality experience, maybe take over for the starting sport after one more year, be in a program with state of the art facilities, and get paid the same. Gray and Green I get, but Johnson and Sims I don’t.

Lets just say that we weren't going to pay Jayden Limar what UW is and good for him to get that much. I havent checked some of the UW coaches salaries but he may be making more than a few of them.

College football 2026. One thing we have learned is 40% don't really care about winning a national championship, or anything at all actually. West Virginia, Udub, Bowling Green, nothing schools, and honestly, not even football schools, so ok.

Josh Pate was asked about the portal and the amount of kids in it and what happens to those who don't get selected to new schools. Do they simply go back and ask to be let back on the team, he said, "for a lot of these kids who are not elite, the minute they put their name in the portal they had no idea they just played their last game of college football".

I believe it now.
