Welp, just gonna hope we see an improved offense, if our offense doesn’t improve next season then I’ll be very disappointed and it’ll feel like a real wasted opportunity.
Love Lanning's personality, and the recruiting, and Ducks vs. Them, the culture, etc etc... but yeah, if Mehringer turns out to be a dud after what we just endured with Stein then not bringing in a more experienced hire is going to be a pretty massive blemish on his legacy here. Uncle Phil is getting old, and we can't afford to waste seasons like this on coaching development. That would almost be unforgivable.
First time I've ever said this as a Duck fan, but this next season is national championship game or bust. That's the standard. This staff had better be ready.

You may be right. Would it be a good idea to bring in a QB Coach who has experience with this offense, just in case things don't go well? He could take over play calling, if needed. Maybe give him a Co-Offensive Coordinator title?
Now that you mentioned it, I wonder if there's currently anyone else on the staff who could call plays, if necessary?
Here's an article about Mehringer that's very enlightening. It covers his coaching experience, where he's coached before, why Lanning promoted him, and much more.
Interesting article. I just wish I saw more about how our offense might evolve rather than stay familiar, since the offense being too familiar has kind of been the core of the problem. He did say he wants the offense to be "the most dynamic" in college football, but I feel like Stein would have said the same thing. I guess we'll just have to wait and see how we look in our first big game.
