I think everybody is just getting a bit wrung out from recruiting this year. With Boyd & BB on our list, it's been a crazy ride. Even if you are able to talk directly with a kid, like Mops does, there is never any guarantee until he signs that LOI. So we should all truly appreciate the info received on this site & consider it 'tentative' until the kid signs his letter or for that matter, SHOWS THE HELL UP AT SCHOOL!!! GO DUCKS!!!

I've got no problem with someone disagreeing with anyone on this board, but IMO asking Mops if it's time to post a rumor that will never come true is being an ass. Maybe we'd prefer that when someone hears a rumor, and that's what it is a rumor, that they keep it to themselves. I for one would rather hear it, even if it turns out to be false.

Getting back to Mops's original post, yeah, I certainly haven't any real expectation of BB signing with the Ducks in the first place. I was afraid I was about to read something like we weren't going to get Gaines or Jackson, someone like that. THAT would be depressing to hear.

I don't understand all the doom & gloom talk against a player who hasn't even said where he is going. if he goes to Miami, then it will become old news and we will move on. Bellotti says recruiting classes lag a year behind a team's record. This class is fitting that statement. If you compare this class to the 2007 season, they fit almost perfectly. The class started off very fast and has now tailed off towards the end. Hopefully the class picks up on the NLOI day. Oregon didn't attract a lot of star power from this year's senior class class as they went into their senior year because of the rocky finish to the season. With this season's finish, recruits in the 2010 class have taken notice of Oregon and are wanting to come here. If the Ducks can have a season like this next season, we can expect 2 great recruiting seasons in a row.

Spot on. Same thing I've been wanting to post but just didn't feel like putting it into words haha.

Look at 2005. We went 10-2 but that years class (2006) was terrible. Next year we had our best class ever. look for the same thing to happen this next year.
Also, you make a great point about how this years recruiting class was almost a perfect match to last years season. I hadn't thought of that until you pointed it out. Its amazing how well a recruiting year matches up with the past season. Again, great post.

The only way for Oregon to have several good recruiting classes in a row is to win 9-10 games a year. Winning 10 games a year would guarantee a top-25 almost every year. This to me, though, is too much to ask from this program right now. I think that at this point we should be happy with a 10-win season every 2-3 years. We should realistically should never be below 8 wins in a season.

I have always expected him to go to Miami. I was just happy for the Ducks to get a visit and so much media attention from him and Boyd. What will upset me is if he were to somehow pick Clemson, that would really piss me off, to lose three guys to a team with no future. I think 2010 will be huge for a couple of reasons. The coaching staff will be in place, unlike this year where there were questions at the HC, DL and WR positions...... because of that we lost a few players. The biggest reason I think we land a huge class is because we are already on the radar for a number of guys from Texas, Florida, California and Oregon and have already landed two of them, this year we got in the game midseason for Brown and later for Boyd, similar to last year with Pryor. Overall I am a little disappointed with losing out on a few guys this year but am satisfied with the class so far. We have Masoli, Thomas, Harper, Blount, LMJ, Alston, Davis, Dickson, Thurmond, Ward, just to name a few as well as some JUCO guys coming in that should make an impact (Littlejohn, Iupati, etc.) and some good HS talent in Harris, Clay, Lokombo, etc. and don't forget some highly rated special teams guys. I am over this years class and am ready for Spring ball and looking forward to being in Boise to kick off a great Duck season!!!

to keep the donors happy. I can tell you as a donor I am disappointed right know that our best
signees are LB'S already a strength on this team. I just know in the past MB keeps one or two
special recruits for that wow factor. Keep your heads up I believe we will see some fireworks
on LOI day.

I agree, MB and the Ducks always seem to have a few surprises on signing day! I am satisfied with who we have in this class but to get a few surprises on LOI day will make me even happier!

All I can say about Brown is, I hope he has enough sense/guidance/luck to land on a team with coaches capable of exploiting and developing his talents to the fullest. I believe we will never see TB do that at Clemson, and probably will not see that out of Bryce Brown at Miami, should he ultimately land there.

Not sour grapes, just an observation on the recent history of the coaches and programs.

Not sure Boyd would have ever won the starting position, until after DT leaves. I believe Thomas is a special player, who will give Duck fans some truly excellent memories before he leaves.

IMO, Oregon is currently one of the best destinations in the nation for a running back who really wants to showcase his skills, and develope his game.

Take note... If BB doesn't do it here, somebody else will get the opportunity of a lifetime!
