Just my two cents, with no intel. But I think with all signs that we are taking Raiola, I think it’s a good indication that Dante is coming back. I don’t think lanning wouldhand the reigns to raiola with the high expectations we have for next year. To me, it looks like if Dante were to leave, we would have went after a one year, more polished QB, see Leavitt. Could explain why Leavitt took his time and Raiola never took any visits after he entered the portal. I think this will be another Nix and Dante situation.

I don't see this as a Gabriel/Dante situation at all. DG was a multi-year starter, while Dante had only started a few games as a freshman. It was clear DG was coming here to start, and it was clear Dante's job was to wait (and develop).

In this case, both guys are starters with similar relevant in-game experience. I love Dante, but I would absolutely consider this an honest & open QB1 competition. That's a huge win! Dante needs to improve for us to win a title, and this will force him to focus. Or, if Raiola is better behind an upgraded O-line with all of our weapons, then he'll win the job and we'll be better for it. Letting them fight it out is a much better option than just giving it to Dante with nobody to challenge him.
Willie Taggart is a dick.

Well, subtracring Purchase, Muthudi, and Moga, using the 247 composite, adding in the next class, Oregon's roster "talent composition" towards "blue chip ratio" sits at:

5 star: 9
4 star: 55
3 star: 14

0.821

(Not including any K and P here so that is a bit off)

Which of course is the highest yet. I think 2025 was at 0.78. Anything 80%+ is top 4-5.

Depending on where you look, 25% to 30% of the college football world is in the portal. I'm not sure if that is just among the players listed in commits (used to be 85), or all players (105) but 25% would be 21 to 26 guys.

One thing I am wondering about is it appears most schools are trying to keep their list of guys who are "commits" as close to 85 out of 105 as possible. In the old days you always wanted to be close to keeping that 85, with an ocassional one year spot left to give to a deserving walk-on. Now I'd imagine teams would rather be over 85 than under (and limit "walk-ons" instead).

I could still see 2-4 guys entering the portal. To hold that 85, right now with 78, 7 need to come back. It could reach 9 to 11. Does it seem like in the next five days 9 to 11 are coming back to Oregon through the portal? It will be interesting.

TE Vander Ploog is hitting the portal. Not a huge loss with the addition of Olesh.

He did break his leg. So I’m not sure he will even be ready to go by fall camp. So give DR time to heal up, and learn behind Moore.

Well obviously you’re going to play the better QB, so yes, there is always a competition no matter what. But I think Raiola’s camp realizes he has some learning to do and sitting a year gives him that opportunity. They came out and said they would be fine with him sitting behind Dante for a year if that was the case. My point was I don’t think Oregon takes raiola if Dante leaves. He isn’t at the level yet to lead a team to a natty, especially with what a previous poster said about his injury and losing prep time coming into next year. If Dante is leaving, I would think k the staff would go after a more ready now transfer.

I had to go back & look. Oregon was very much in the running for Olesh prior to him signing with Penn State. I seem to recall some favoring Olesh over Cure. Ploog was a back up plan when we missed on those two.

Yup, Olesh is a big pickup. If Sadiq does end up staying, it could allow Oregon to run some big 3 TE fronts, like the Harbaugh Stanford teams. With a RB like Davison, that could be an answer to Oregon's red zone issues.

First thing that sticks out to me is a seeming inverse relationship between quality of high school recruiting and net transfers.

To Stu and other talent evaluators....whats the word about Smith Jr. I still think hes gonna make a big jump this off season. But thats just me and I did NOT stay at a holiday inn last night
For all of us who don't get to see practice, truly who knows. I can tell you what my thoughts on him were 15 months or so ago were when he was wrapping up his senior year, but we just haven't been able to see him much sense. Lets see what he looks like in the spring game.
