The whole thing is crazy. Some schools can pay their stars and get nothing and some pay 5k over a 5 year period and get slammed?

amazon wrote:I see they released the info on their self-imposed penalties and are giving up 3 football scholarships each of the next two years. Sounds like it's a bigger deal then I originally thought. I know they are just trying to get ahead of potential NCAA penalties but 3 schollies a year isn't a little tough for letting recruits crash on a couch before they enroll in school.
Stuart Mandel tweeted this morning that Boise mislead everyone with their statement to the press. He says there were 20 major violations and one secondary violation. He didn't offer an article or any other information though. Now that is more in keeping with Lack of institutional control!

That sounds a whole lot more likely. Schools typically don't get a LOIC if there's just a whole bunch of minor infractions.

My impression was they received the allegation of LOIC was because of the major violations involving the tennis. Apparently the NCAA frowns on non-students playing on the team. It sounds like more news may follow on this.

But would you be shocked if the NCAA found some more serious violations from the football team if they kept digging? I think the NCAA would find violations all over the place if they dug at any FBS team.

I agree. That's why you don't want the NCAA digging around your campus. There like Honey Badgers and don't give up until they find something.

That's why schools like to announce their own self imposed penalties before the NCAA gets too far into it.
