This coaching staff essentially has months to prepare for this game & Masoli is already talking about playing on the blue turf. This team will be fully prepared & I wouldn't be surprised to see us win in a blow out. I'm still nervous about this game though, openers are always nerve racking.

I might be the only one, but I'm not so worried about the three new O-Linemen. They are coached by the best position coach in the business, they've seen at least some field time, and they are in a system that makes it easier to succeed.
If our O-backfield is on point, which I believe they probably will be, I think we can be real succesfull putting up points. Defensively I'm not near as sure, but I'm optomistic. I like our chances.

What I saw last year, was the Ducks running all over Boise's defense, until they figured out we couldn't pass, at all, not even a little bit. Even then we still ran the ball a little. Watching Boise's games later in the year I saw the same thing: not good against the run. Unless that somehow changes this season, I see no way they stop our offense.
The big thing will be whether we can stop their offense. I think we will, but it may be close. Last year they switched their style of offense at the beginning of the year, then for our game, switched back to what they were used to. This totally left us unprepared. So which offense do they bring for their first game? We don't know. This may be a track race.
However, last year our defense did not get much opportunity to rest and little reason to stay motivated throughout the game. This will be completely different this year and the reason we go home with a win.

Last year, Oregon spent the summer preparing for Jake Locker, and maybe some of the other Huskies too, I guess. Boise State spent the summer preparing for Oregon. That type of preparation makes a difference. We've all seen how well Oregon plays after a bye week, (65 - 38) a summer of preparation should tilt this one in Oregon's favor. I think we win it, but not in Civil War fashion or anything.

There defense is going to be stout. They have their entire secondary coming back with Wilson being all-WAC. They were young on the d-line last year. Linebacking corp is their weakest unit that is getting the most attention. However, it should be an adequate unit. Also, they have very capable skill players in the skill positions. They return everyone on a very mediocre o-line. However, no one really stands out as a superstar. They have depth at running back but Avery, their projected 1st string, is probably the weakest in skill position. I really think they'll be unable to establish a great running game and their passing game won't sneak up on us. I just don't know how good our d-line will be with us losing Celotto. However, if we get our offense rolling, it won't matter. I really don't see them keeping up with us.

I personally am afraid of boise state this year. They remind me a lot of the ducks in the late 90's early 00's. A hell of a fan base, solid home record to protect. We had a slippery duck emblem on the 50, they have an obnoxious entire field. Already around those parts of the country it is being said that this will be the biggest game to ever be played on the smurf turf. Those boys will be ready to protect their pride. The ducks better show up with their A game because I am afraid anything else might lead to us fans trying to come up with excuses. I am a lot more afraid of BSU than I am of Purdue or Utah I guess.

For Gods Sake...Its BSU's 1st game of the season also....There is a reason why BSU has stellar seasons year after year...They dont play too tough of a schedule week in and week out...
This game will most likely be one of if not the biggest game played on the Smurf Turf....
Why? Because, finally, they are going to be playing a quality opponent at home...
A true D-1 team......
Put some water in the glass, it really needs to be at least half full...Are ya'll gonna be doin this next year for the Tennessee game also? I know there were lots of ya around b4 the Michigan games and the Oklahoma games....
Give the team your support.....
All the negativity does nothing but bring Duck fans down....
And...Really..To what end purpose....?
GOOOOOO DUCKS.....

Why is it negative for some of us to say we are worried about the game? It doesn't mean that we don't think Oregon will win. By the way, there were many people overconfident for the Boise St game last season and look what happened.

Let me think about that...We lost our totally inexperienced QB early in the game, replaced him with a 1st time D-1, totally one dimensional QB (fresh outta High School), and still damn near won the game with another 1st time D-1 QB (fresh outta High School).
This is a totally different season...and in the skill positions, we are sittin sweet.....Either Masoli or Roper, or DT should be able to rip the BSU team to pieces....Costa? hmmmm, maybe could be a factor if he can stay healthy....As far as being nervous, sure...thats part of the fun of being a fan....Personally, I love this aspect of the game...There are no guarantees, thats why we play the game...Optimistic about the outcome....? Why not be?....
Anything less, is being.....Well.....Let me think about this....Hmmmmmm...
Oh yeah, NEGATIVE....lol

Isn't it more negative to rip on people for saying they're a little worried than the people who are actually saying they're worried?
Maybe you should just respect other people's opinions.

How can you not be nervous going on the road against a very dangerous opponent with a guy coaching his first game ever in his life.
I don't see how that's negative..

we didnt have problem stopping Boise state running's game and Ian Johnson had hard time against us. Their passing game killed our D all day.
