I think that the spread option allows a team to get by with a weaker offensive line, putting more of the weight on QB play. But, that is all within reason.
It's similar to how knowing karate will only help you against so many opponents. If Ryan Seacrest was a black belt in 4 different forms of martial arts, Ray Lewis would still kick his ass.
That's what it looked like in the USC game last year. Things kept getting so broken up at the line that we couldn't get things started. And, to be honest, there were times in the spring game that plays were breaking down due to line play in an eerily similar manner.
I'm hoping the injured guys return, stay healthy and make a big difference.
