It has been said by commentators many times that the PAC-10 is the only conference that the teams play tough out of conference teams, yet the Little 10, Little 12 and SEC get all of the recognition, outside of USC, but there is no such thing as a East Coast bias in college football and the BCS works and doesn't need to be changed!

Re: Florida...
My thoughts exactly. The minute the Pac-10 starts scheduling cupcakes, it will be because "we're inferior" and couldn't handle a tough OOC schedule. An undefeated Oregon/Cal team will never get the nod over an undefeated SEC and most likely Big 12 team if both teams played all cupcakes.gofightingducks wrote:It has been said by commentators many times that the PAC-10 is the only conference that the teams play tough out of conference teams, yet the Little 10, Little 12 and SEC get all of the recognition, outside of USC, but there is no such thing as a East Coast bias in college football and the BCS works and doesn't need to be changed!
Yep, it absolutely sucks the Pac-10 has to play a tougher schedule, but I guess that's what happens when a majority of people live on the other side of the country.
I also don't think having FCS games not count won't change anything. So Florida technically goes 12-0 instead of 13-0, Oklahoma goes 12-0 instead of 13-0, and Oregon/Cal go a legit 13-0. Who do you think is going to the championship game?

Re: Florida...
Cal's schedule looks bad at first glance because they have an FCS team scheduled. However, their other two OOC games are against BCS teams. As far as weighing the schedules goes, that evens it out with the other Pac 10 teams schedules.
I thought AZ had a bad OOC schedule again this year, but the standard should definitely be different for teams trying to get to bowl games after long droughts and for coaches on the hot seat.
No way should teams that expect to be in the hunt for a National Title be able to schedule so many meaningless games. Like Kansas a couple of years ago. They surprise everyone, including themselves, by going 11-0 with a pathetic schedule and suddenly decide they deserve to be in the talk for a BCS or NC game. Then they actually got a BCS birth over Missouri, who beat them but lost in the Big 12 Title game.

I am just briefly going to play the devil's advocate here. Do not get me wrong as am not saying teams should play 3 cupcakes in their non conference. I rememebr 30 years ago when oregon was considered a cupcake and the only thing Oregon good for was a doormat.. or was somebodies cupcake. I remember going to Nebrasks back in the 70's and losing a game 63-0. By many accounts we were defnitely a cupcake then. The university received lots of money to play these really good teams. I would suspect the same is true today. I think the NCAA or BCS .. somebody should limit how many schools can put on schedule just so can get a win but also realize these schools are giving them lots of money.

One other thing I forgot to mention in my above post. I look forward to the oppurtunity to play Georgia and Tenn in the coming years. I am a realist though. Those years we go back there and even when we play them here will not be cake walks. I do not like their OOC games as a whole but still respect the programs greatly and know it will be difficult going to their house and beating them. I think beating Tenn is doable.. Georgia too far down the road to have any kind of guess what chances will be. I am finally a 3 star recruit heheh yippee.

I agree with you there, those trips into the southeast can be brutal.GoDucksIn09 wrote:One other thing I forgot to mention in my above post. Pray the Ducks get monsoons to neutralize the humidity and crowd like OSU got against LSU.
