I disagree. You don't lose all the key players Oregon has lost unless their is turmoil with the program. Oregon is coming off of a great season, and it's not like Kelly was a bad move. Harper looked awful when he was at qb, so it's his loss.
Turmoil within the program, you need to get a grip...
1. Pflugrad - dad got fired, gee what a surprise he wanted to transfer
2. Roper - Backup QB at best here, wants to play somewhere his last 2 years, gee shocker
3. Harper - Has said he wants to play QB, has stated he is homesick, his brother told all of us they would go through Spring Ball and see what happens after that, not like this hasn't been discussed since the turn of the year.
So they can go to weaker programs? I don't buy it. No way people would have expected all 3 of these guys to leave the program. It would be one thing if they were way down on the depth chart, but they weren't.
Actually, Pflu and Roper were probly not going to be starters and Harper definitely wasn't a sure thing. So it's not like we're losing our star QB and playmakers. Yeah this sucks, but don't be rash. A LOT of people would rather play at weaker programs than sit at strong programs. Especially if they're homesick and playing a position they don't like.
And can people please stop insulting the players that leave? "What a baby"? Get over it. You don't know the kids and you don't know the situation. You just end up sounding like judgmental jerks when you insult kids for wanting to play elsewhere.
There is no spinning this one - Roper and Pflu could be resolved in my head but not this one. I don't want to sound like sour grapes but I am here to express myself, "good luck at f'ing sh*tty a$$ KState!"
It has been said over and over and over again....Darron Thomas is our future at QB. Harper is a great athlete, don't get me wrong but he wants to be the QB and that position is already spoken for, for the duration of the time that he will be here. No one wants to be second fiddle. I wish him the best and hope that he has a lot of success at QB for a program that we never have to play.
Even if some of you expected this, that doesn't make it hurt any less. And please, none of this "he might not have started anyway" or "it's no big loss", etc. This is a monumental loss for the program, and I for one am not going to wish Harper luck. Good riddence to him.

Let's see here - Harper threw three passes against BSU and two were intercepted. If he's going to play D1 quarterback - it's in the triple option at Georgia Tech. CK could've utilized him in ways that would've been truely dynamic.

Neither my fist nor my desk are happy that I saw this thread...and this story...dang it...I really thought Harper had a chance to be something special in this offense....I think we'll be fine, but I also think this kills any chance we had at redshirting Darron...I think we will still try, but I don't think we make it a full season....Hopefully Diante Jackson can live up to the hype that he created...We are gonna miss Harper's versatility, but its not the end of the world.....Hopefully Chip can get recruiting going so that losing a Chris Harper isn't awful....
I texted Mops' with the news and he's at work, I got a WTF reply. I think this sucks. That sums it up. Roper will hurt us this season, I know it, this one hurts when we are short handed at RB and Harper could have eased some of that work in certain formations. He came back after a long Memorial day weekend and decided he missed it too much I guess. Terrible decision by a gifted athlete to go to a weaker, less showcased school in Kansas. Terrible. Terrible Terrible.
This hurts, alot. The sky is falling. Okay maybe not but it still hurts, as I, like everyone else here believes, that a recruit would be crazy not to want to play for the Oregon Ducks. I still believe that, but if his heart is no longer here, all the best of him unless he plays us. Who knows where his career goes from here, but, trying to be as unbiased as possible, this sounds like a stupid move. I'm sad but at the same time, still excited about what the players who truly want to be Ducks are capable of.

Beyond that, I'm not overly sad. I'd rather have Roper in the wings than Harper at receiver.
I think what people are missing is Harper's upside. Roper was a good back up that can be replaced. You don't replace a Harper...you just hope to find his equivalent or someone just as dynamic. Here's to Diante Jackson!
A potential starting WR on a top 10 squad..huge huge huge loss.
Roper and Phlu and I live with, but this is just pissing me off.
Dude has the chance to be an NFL athlete and he transfers to be closer to home? Ugh, very frustrating. I can def. understand being home sick, but at least he was getting PT and could have been a starting receiver for us. I hope he does well, unless he plays us..but this is getting out of hand.
Good thing we got Diante Jackson, Gaine, and Tuinei in the recruiting class and Holland, Davis, & Maehl returning.
Can Malachi Lewis play WR?
I really wish I knew the whole story b/c we gave the kid every shot to play QB...tried everything to get him on the field..he played well, man the rumors were true about him wanting out..s***
I hate to say it but this makes the coming season even more of a challenge. 3 talneted players on our offense all elaving that with the graduation I doubt anyone will be picking us now to even give USC a shot. I am not saying we have no chance but the experience we are losing and the talent we are losing makes this probably the hardest spring I have seen at Oregon in a long time. I have no idea whats going on. I would really like to know what is being said behind closed doors. What is Chip Kelly saying to these guys making them want to leave. I would think he would be encouraging them to stay and see how it plays out instead of pushing them out the door. Who is next... Masoli?? maybe Blount??
Good Lord Rope doesn't even have the slightest clue where he is going to go..he already burnt a redshirt..dude, stay at Oregon, chances are if you play QB, one time or another you'll get a shot to play.
I am not to mad at Harp leaving now, b/c it seems like he wanted to be a qb and he aint no qb
