Funny you should ask. There has been no more impressive player on the defensive end than Mutombo. The Zairian looks like a man among boys this year at Georgetown. The man-child lumbers around the court sending any ill advised trip into his pain into a one-way trip for the ball into the tenth row. He has averaged five BPG and has even had a double double the hard way against St. Johns going 7 pts, 11 reb and 10 blocks. The dude takes almost a sycophantic joy out of watching his opposition being denied. No one in the nation has seen such stellar defense for a long, long time. To say he is walking away with DPOY this year would be an understatement.

Shawn Kemp has finally hit the court, and boy did he ever. With Kentucky with a losing record and even the NIT began to look like an outside chance, he has willed Kentucky to huge wins over the likes of Vandy and LSU. Once losing record no more as they not sit at 18-9 with the stretch run coming up. Probalby not playing in the first third may cost him the Naismith, but noone has been more valuable to his team. His 23/8 average reflects this.

Big news abroad may have large implications for future of players from Yugoslavia. A coalition of Slovenia and Croatia have elected their own parliaments and declared independence from what they feel are a Serbian, Beograd centric politics. They have signed a mutual defense pact. Both sides, The remaining Yugoslav states and Slovac/Croatia have called up their reserves and are massing on the border. We here at draft watch hope for the safety of all involved, but fear the future of such a fertile souse of raw talent. Yugoslavia has lead the non-aligned movement (neither Warsaw Pact, nor NATO aligned), if the country cannot solve its differences politically, the entire region may fact trauma for years to come.

I pulled it after first posting to edit the list so I could put the full one up at the same time.
