So it is okay to throw punches is you are in a costume because people cannot associate a name with the school, but if you are in a uniform with a last name of it then full year suspension for less violence is appropriate. Great logic! That should be an LSAT question.

The medical redshirt can actually be used for non-physical medical reasons. But, I really doubt that could come in to play in this case.AutzenMember wrote:Why not a medical redshirt? wiseforexinvestor, where will you be with the petition?
Tray Dub, Blount represents the university but the university mascot doesn't?
Last I heard, Hout wasn't hurt and required no treatment of any kind for being punched.

Ok, if Blount just hit hout, then give him a three game suspension.. He hit a teammate that was trying to calm him down.. he tried to go into the stands.. what would have happened if Frost wasn't there? Horrible Horrible news... Get two million signatures, it won't matter. Plus, who needs Blount when our offensive line gets manhandled by a Wac team?wiseforexinvestor wrote:The tentative plan is to be outside of the South Gate and then look for the sign in the student section which says "BRING BLOUNT BACK!"wheaton4prez wrote:The medical redshirt can actually be used for non-physical medical reasons. I wish someone would check out the rumors I've heard that the BS player said, "How's your aunt?" LGB's aunt died a few weeks ago while he was enroute to say Goodbye. She played a major part in his life. So, while his behavior isn't justifiable, this details sure makes a difference to people's compassion.
Bellotti and Kelly want to help him because that's what Universities do - They help students learn life skills inorder to make responsible choices. Let's hope he will stay and help the team get through their struggles this season. He will earn his degree, make a difference in the community by talking with high school students about behavior on the field and he will grow as a responsible individual.

No. No one on the team has higher authority than Kelly, who was the one who handed down this punishment. Blount will never play in another Oregon game.
Where there is a will there is a way. I will be passing around a petition in the student section at the Purdue game. Look for the "BRING BLOUNT BACK" sign if you would like to demonstrate your forgiving nature as well.

Is there some way he can appeal this suspension for a lesser one?
No. No one on the team has higher authority than Kelly, who was the one who handed down this punishment. Blount will never play in another Oregon game.

I don't think anyone has argued that the two are equivalent in every way. Just that they both are instances where the University was represented involving physical aggression.

If someone is truly going to have a petition for folks to sign re Blount - well I say "WAY TO HELP SUPPORT OUR TEAM AND ITS STAFF WHEN THEY NEED IT MOST" (sarcasm intended).
That has to be one of the stupidest things I've ever heard of. Right now, though we can disagree amongst ourselves re the Blount suspension, etc. the last thing this team needs is more negative publicity. Kelly undoubtedly is dealing with a fair % of his own players who likely feel the suspension was too severe. Players tend to stick together and they likely feel that Haut got what he deserved (the punch) and LGB didn't. However, the decision re LGB's status was a no win situation for this staff and University. The HC sometimes has to make decisions that aren't going to be popular with his players, but in the long term, and that's what is most important, he has to do what best for the whole program, not just how it affects 1 person or whether or not some folks aren't going to like it.
I say this staff needs our support whether we agree with its rendering re Blount. Passing out some silly petition, which won't change anything re the decision, will only serve to add fuel to the unfortunate fire that is burning right now.
