I seem to remember MB stating several times in the late 90's early 2000's that he wanted bigger WR but they kept missing out on them. MB even before we went to the spread, has always put an major emphasis on blocking by the WR.

Is it possible to get him on a baseball scholarship and save a scholie for football?

I don't think they could. I believe that the NCAA automatically moves a player's scholarship to the higher revenue generating sport or the sport that occurs earliest in the year, which would both be football. I remember that Jordan Kent's scholarship was moved to football once he joined the team.

YES! I wanted this kid realy bad to commit to us. IMO, this is a huge get for the Ducks! I know he's rated 2 star WR, but look at that speed PLUS he's one of the top baseball recruits in the Nation! I can't wait to hear more about him and to me this is a very nice suprise in hopefuly a long string of them come LOI day!

I wouldn't be suprised at all if we end up landing both of those guys still. To me, Braxton is more of an ATH elite baseball player that happens to have football skills. He'll end up making more waves on our baseball team, but is a very nice addition to the FB team and can contribute.

He didn't play any football this past fall as he took his senior year off to prepare for his senior baseball season and to work on getting ready for MLB tryouts. Had he played football this past fall he would have been a 4* WR. This is a huge get for the staff.

That said, he wont ever set foot at Oregon's campus unless he has a major slipup in the draft. He is expected to get drafted in the first round this summer and should not even set foot on a college campus for football.

That said, if he does decide for whatever reason to skip on the pro ball and go to school, Oregon just landed IMO one of the biggest steals of the entire recruiting process.

In this case I don't mind being the back up plan. Though for some reason I almost think it should be a baseball commit. Kind of a weird situation.

I don't view it as bad news. I view it as smart and awesome news. The staff knows we need talent at WR. They know this guy is going to be a player no matter what sport he plays as he has a given ability to be a star at either Baseball or Football. So he decides to play baseball and not come to Oregon. Oh well, doesn't take a scholarship away from anyone or limit us from another recruit, nor does it hurt our standing with the UO.

But should he decide to come here we get him on campus for football and he brings talent and speed to a position we need depth and better talent. Then he also will give our baseball team a huge lift in talent.

This is a very very low risk with a very very high reward offer.

Money talks and BS walks. I would be very suprised if he winds up at Oregon. He reminds me of the QB, Casey Kelly, that Oregon recruited last year. He ended up committing to Tennesee but then was drafted and never stepped foot on campus.

I like your glass is half full attitude here. I still have a hard time coming to term with how many guys in this class that have committed to us that will never play for us. This must be some sort of a record.
