Yeah, recruiting is a fun way to make your head swim with shoulda woulda's during the offseason, then we got a dead month of jonesing, then shazzam, spring ball starts, and I can spend my lunch break and after work watching the kids we do have show me what to look forward to in the fall

Looks like we're going to have to go with either Marvin Johnson or Javes Lewis at ROV next year instead of Leon. It would have been nice to have 2 big, hard-hitting safeties back there. We are getting really low in terms of depth at safety. Besides Johnson and Lewis, all we have are Boyett, Titus Jackson, and Ward. Something is going on with our JC commits that we are unaware of. From what's been said on here, the standards don't sound like they've changed. Are the coaches getting worried about our APR score and possibly losing scholarships?

what a great concept. Being excited about guys who ARE ducks. Marvin knows the system and has seen playing time. Im looking forward to what he can do with lots of playing time.

green yellow, I don't know if you seen Leon play in person or just on tape, but watching Marvin and Javes in person, I wouldn't be sweatin the lack of lumberjacks in the secondary.

I second that idea. Who cares about the game of football, I want to win recruiting titles.

Right now what's killing us is players not qualifying for Oregon and coaches being fired during the heart of recruiting. Sucks, but that's how things roll sometimes.
I'm not one to look into stars that much, but we only have 1 4-star commit according to rivals right now.

Wow, didn't know that he was the cousin of the late Sean Taylor. No matter who's fault it was, Leon might be our biggest loss of all the recruits.

The JC transfer thing is brutal.

Agreed and it has nothing to do with our recruiting...bloody Admin policy! We had this guy and
they lost him...this is what is frustrating to me (us) and I can only imagine how upset the coaches are!

I remember a year or two ago something similar happened at USC (the gamecock version) and Spurrier threatened to quit. He had 2 players who were NCAA qualifiers and they would not admit them into school.

I think one of the new rules that is hurting JC transfers this year is that the State of Oregon is not excepting on line classes to transfer, for the main reason that they are easy to cheat at. Next year the whole Pac-10 will have these rules but I guess that doesn't help us this year. As for our other JC's i would think the coaches have made sure that they are already OK to get in before taking their commit now that they know of the new rules.

I'm not saying that Marvin Johnson is a bad player, but he hasn't been able to stay healthy for much of the past season. He's had knee problems that have really hampered him, which has limited his game experience to mainly ST work. I think the knee problems are the only reason that Javes Lewis saw so much playing time last year. But if you look at the depth, it's just not there like it should be. The team really only has 5 safeties. It would be nice to have 6 or 7.
