Points Per Drive will be the most important factor for us in that game. UM will control the TOP in the game and try to shorten the number of possessions in the game so the more we can score TD's the more our chances go up. Having a healthy Bedford and Iuli once we hit the mid-season stretch to be able to rotate inside.QuackininBama wrote: Tue Sep 24, 2024 3:34 pm Draw up a play from CK's book and just spend the entire first half running from one sideline to the other and by the 3rd quarter the big boys had nothing left in the tank.

Re: Matthew Bedford suffers injury setback in practice
Question for those that know the game of football well (like StevensTechU and Duck07), how good can we expect Bedford and Iuli to be when they are fully healthy? Is it expected that the staring guards will be Strother and Harper for the rest of the season or could Bedford and/or Iuli jump into a starting position (assuming injuries don’t play a role)?
Also not that I need to defend myself, but when Prehm posted that Bedford “reinjured” his leg, that to me indicated his recovery started all over and would be what it just was, which I believe started in fall camp week 2 so his recovery was about 5 weeks I think, meaning in my mind we probably wouldn’t see him until Illinois. But sounding like it’ll be earlier than that which is good.

Problem I have with saying "healthy Iuli" is that we've only had a healthy Iuli for about two months of his freshman year and he's been injured ever since. it feels like outcomes on opposite ends of the spectrum - regular starter and medically retires - are equally likely.

Won't know until we see them on the field. Sometimes the best thing a player can do is be the 'rising tide that lifts all boats' in that by 1 player doing their job very well, it makes it that much easier for those around them to do their jobs while forcing more competition for snaps. Penei had that effect but of course he's the best RT in the game today and nobody is making those jumps with Bedford but it also doesn't mean that other leadership effects wouldn't be in play from him in the lineup.OregonFan4Life wrote: Wed Sep 25, 2024 10:36 am Question for those that know the game of football well (like StevensTechU and Duck07), how good can we expect Bedford and Iuli to be when they are fully healthy? The other side of this is also how much Poncho improves as a younger OL as the season goes on too. The more reps he keeps getting with better tape means you start playing with more confidence and that is something perhaps the OL had been lacking in prior to the civil war.
