Transfer portal targets?

You look at how many young and talented players are in that depth chart, it lines up as a classic "rebuild" year that primes the young guys for a legitimate title run in 2026. In the modern era of football, programs like Oregon are expected to roload, not rebuild, and so who knows what the staff will do. Offensive line and reciever look problematic, but those aside, you could see a lot of players being rough in the beginning of the year and studly by the end (Terrance Green, Ify Obidegwu, Brayden Platt, etc.).

That's my line of thinking with a few of these spots, let these guys get the game reps and grow. We start the year vs Montana St, host Oklahoma State, have a Bye (or B1G game) and then play the Beavers in Autzen before we start the B1G season.

Our Road games are at Iowa, Northwestern, Penn State, Rutgers and in Seattle

Our Home games are vs Indiana, Minnesota, USC and Wisconsin.

10-2/11-1 against that schedule looks possible which could also set us up to host a Playoff game.

According to On3’s Steve Wiltfong, Humprey is expected to look at Texas, Texas A&M, Oregon, Alabama and Miami once he enters the NCAA transfer portal.

I've seen this elsewhere, but why would Oregon want Georgia's backup CB? Maybe I don't know enough about the kid. I know he was a highly rated recruit, but he got beat out in a defensive backfield that just got shredded by Georgia Tech.

To be fair, Ohio State has one of the best DB groups in the country, and Oregon made them look silly

It depends of Florence. But if he can return 100% next year, he and Laulea should be as good S any CB duo next year.

I’d be willing to bet one of our 3 top 10 CB recruits plays at some point.

At some point, with all the CB talent they've accrued the past couple of years, you have to give them a shot to play. In regards to Humphrey, he lost his starting spot at UGA, and quit on his team during a playoff run. I'd prefer to give the young guys a shot. It's a favorable early season schedule to work guys in, and it's not like the B1G is littered with prolific passing attacks anyway. Plenty of time to get guys up to speed. They certainly aren't lacking on talent, and the only way to improve is to get the reps.

I'd say the biggest areas of need will be TE, OT, and RB but could see WR, DL, and LB being areas of need depending on what happens with the transfer portal/early draft entries.

While the DB group is loaded with talent, I would be surprised if we didn't bring some veterans to help a mostly fresh/soph group. I think we will only have one player who has started (Jahlil Florence with 9 starts).

If anything, it'll likely be 1-2 veteran DBs to provide depth and experience in case the young guys aren't fully ready yet.

I think this depends on defections. It's possible that Dan focus on just a few positions with high-profile guys and allow some of these guys to start getting their feet wet and see who sinks or swims and at DB I think they might feel better about that more than with the OT's.

It's true, I could see Dan feeling more confident in some positions groups over others. Transfer portal will be very interesting this offseason.
