Also, I was gonna send a big hug to OF4L, his wife and his father-in-law, but I didn’t know how that would be received so I will settle for a fist bump with prolonged eye contact.

All the pleasantries out of the way, permit me a moment of snark. Should we just forfeit and tell the boys to not even get on the plane? C’mon now everyone.

The lack of faith in this team (based on an at-best-error-riddleda-C-minus-effort against the #2 team in the country and a performance in biblical monsoon game) is appalling.

I predict this game is going to play out like Utah in 2023 (after a close loss to UW in Seattle and and a meh performance against WSU at home):

- Our opponent thumping their chest about how physical and tough they are.

- A pissed off, motivated, focused, physically/athletically superior (albeit young and maddeningly inconsistent) Duck team

- Probably being challenged throughout the bye week by their head coach who usually pushes the right buttons when backed into a corner.

Oregon is going to have spent a full 13 days listening to Iowa media…and pessimistic Duck fans/media….and now even Iowa’s DC. Even the national media is questioning Oregon. That $h!t tends to motivate this group. Why do you all think Cig zipped his lips (which are normally spewing mad smack) before IU played us?

Iowa has our full undivided attention and I’m calling the shot now.

Everyone saying “Penn State is broken” and our win over them “isn’t that great anymore”? Well friends, that “broken team” should have beaten Iowa in Iowa. If “Kinnick is worth 5-7 points” then 2 weeks ago Penn State was at least a FG or two better than the Hawkeyes (I realize the transitive property of sports is complete BS).

If I’m wrong I’ll gladly come on here and own my L.

Happy Friday everyone! Go Ducks!
Thank you! I appreciate that a lot, glad so many on this board are able display kindness and recognize that we are all fans but have lives outside of Oregon football. My wife’s father and stepmom are in town now before he starts his treatment next week which extends over the holidays and he’ll have to be isolated during that game, so it’s good to celebrate, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas all in one week! Though my 6 year old and 3 year old are napping which isn’t normal, I wonder why….

But I can certainly see this game playing out like the 2023 Utah game. Like I said before, this Oregon team has the potential, call me a crazy duck fan but I actually think they have the potential to win it all despite underperforming lately. It will all come down to if the offense can click and how composed/confident Moore is. If Moore can break his bad habits when he feels pressure and stays composed I don’t doubt this offense can put up some points against Iowa.

Very respected level-headed big-picture media like Pate and others cautioned us at the start of the season to understand that because of youth and inexperience we would see BOTH the floor (IU and I guess Wiscy) and the ceiling (OkSu, Penn State and Rutgers) at various points this season.

Pate has a great point, that ideally we want this team peaking at USC and then forward. Obviously that means hopefully withstanding the challenge Iowa poses.

Iowa fans think they can score 27? If we lose it would be like 14-13. That sai, stein finally runs Davison 25 times, we win 31-10

Ya I don’t see 27 happening unless they get scores / scoring opportunities from special teams and defense.

Only one team has scored over 17 points against the Ducks in regulation, and that was Indiana (30).

Kick off is 12:30 PST (2:30 Iowa time).

Kinda ideal for us honestly. Avoid early game and no late night Kinnick magic (should get dark in like 3rd/4th quarter).

Transitive properties are BS, but I am basing my thoughts on the fact that we likely had Indiana beat had Gronowski not gone down early in the 4th quarter. The backup QB (who is now third string) was largely ineffective and botched a screen pass that again would have likely sealed the win. Excuses are like assholes, so a loss is a loss, but after watching your game vs. Indiana, I am fairly confident the Hawks will take care of business Saturday. That's why they play the games, right?

Iowa's run game is the real deal with a four-headed RB attack behind an OL that is playing really, really well. Add Gronowski into the mix and it opens up the play-action game nicely. The real wild card that should be getting more national attention (and will, if we keep winning) is Kaden Wetjen. That kid is electric, and for those who might remember Tim Dwight, has Iowa fans reminiscing.

Oregon needs to get players open in space to let them make big plays. Iowa's defense is incredibly disciplined and stout against the run, so I don't see a power run game from the Ducks being very effective. Mobile QBs can be a problem, so how willing will Moore be to tuck and run with a broken nose?

Anywho, it should be an entertaining game. The Ducks will get Kinnick at full volume, that is for sure.

I don’t think you actually understand Oregon football, but are just using the traditional narrative of Oregon football which is we only win when we get guys the ball in space. Oregon’s OLine has struggled with scheme/chemistry but is a physically imposing OLine. Oregon’s had a lot of success running it down Indiana’s throats and we’re getting chunk yards, but like I said previously, our OC is overly obsessed with trying to create exotic formations/looks and his over complicating the offense is the #1 reason we lost to Indiana.

I’m not saying that Oregon will be able to simply run it down Indiana’s DLine with man blocking the way they were able to against Indiana and Wisconsin, but this isn’t the old Oregon team that just needed to rely on speed on the edges and in open space to win games, this team is capable of competing at the LOS with the best teams across the country.

With that said, Oregon does have some great athletes and a QB with a golden arm, to me the Oregon offense has the highest ceiling of any team in the nation (especially when we get our best receiver Evan Stewart back, which could potentially be this Saturday but I doubt it), they just aren’t grasping the offensive our OC has written up and our young QB is struggling.

I’m not saying all this to say Iowa won’t win, I’m nervous and fully aware they have a really good chance, but it won’t be because they are just able to dominate at the LOS, the key for Iowa will be to take advantage of our below average LB’s and to get in our QB’s head with simulated pressure and hitting him early. While our OLine is physically imposing, our tackles are nowhere near great at pass protection, particularly against speedy edge rushers.

A lot of duck fans are comparing this to the Utah 2023 game, and I could not disagree more. This Iowa team is much better than that Utah team who had a walk on pig farmer starting at QB and that Oregon team, while less talented than this team overall, had veterans all over the field, particularly at QB with Bo Nix who was brilliant at dissecting simulated pressures and presnap adjustments.

I think if it does come down to a battle in the trenches, Iowa wins convincingly. The way to beat Iowa is to execute a short passing game play after play after play. Phil Parker makes a bet every game that the opposing offense can't do that for a majority of the time and has been very successful doing so.

Iowa either gets beat by teams out-executing them or having a significant athletic advantage ala Ohio State.

I understand and appreciate how big a home field advantage Autzen is for the Ducks. Kinnick is every bit of that for Iowa and has been a house of horrors for highly ranked teams over the years.

In the end, I think the Iowa QB will have a big say in the outcome of the game, which hasn't been the case in quite some time (probably around 10 years with CJ Beathard).

Thanks for the reply!

Yep. And IU scored that much because Donte decided to gift them two INT deep in our own territory. The D actually held them to 330 yards for the day. That should have been enough to win

The Ducks overcame a lot of key injuries today. They did not waver in Kinnick. They absolutely ran the ball down Iowa's throat repeatedly against a stout run defense.

I sure wish BrewHawk would come back and try to explain that officiating. I wonder if that’s normal for Iowa fans so in their minds that wasn’t blatantly one sided officiating.

BrewHawk can pound sand.

He’s a joke. Just like his “dominant physical” team and their mighty 2.3 ypc and the 261 rushing they gave up to a team that was down it’s top TE, top WR, #3 WR and a starting RT and ILB.

Plus we were battling the officials who killed Oregon drives with mindnumbingly bad calls and extended Iowa drives with other just as egregious ones.

That game should have been 31-10 Oregon.

Eat an eggplant emoji BrewHawk and don’t let the door hit your $h!t talking a$$ on the way out.

Have fun in the (insert name of 3rd tier bowl here).

BrewHawk is probably either home crying in his black and yellow pillow or longingly watching re-runs of what he calls “fancy wide open uptempo offense” aka grainy black and white footage of the 1930’s leather helmet era, which looks like the peak Chip Kelly Blur compared to whatever that yawn-inducing eyesore that Ferentz and Lester are trying to pass off as football is . The only redeeming quality those corn-eating yokels have is that they have empathy and compassion for sick kids.

I’ll die on the hill that Iowa’s only points should have been that field goal. Their best offense today was the officials.

Did I mention that BrewHawk can eat a (eggplant emoji)? What a joke team and fanbase.
