Re: Blake Cantu..
The only comparison between him & Pflugrad is their skin color. It cracks me up how just cause a WR is white he is automatically compared to the other white WR on the team
He's a big fast WR with great hands so pretty much another Maehl.....kidding!

Re: Blake Cantu..
I didnt compare him to Phlugrad because he's white, they are comparable players that both happen to be white and the latter is a bit taller and heavier. Like I said before I highly doubt he runs a 4.48 forty time like scout says he does.dthomas=ddixon wrote:The only comparison between him & Pflugrad is their skin color. Re: Blake Cantu..
Totally agree DT. Not just on this board, but in sports in general. White guys have to be like another white guy, or people freak. Like the comparisons a few months ago between Maehl and Mike Hass- two guys who have little in common as players.dthomas=ddixon wrote:The only comparison between him & Pflugrad is their skin color. As far as Cantu goes, all I have seen is the clip posted on this thread. Pretty hard to draw conclusions from a single play. I do like his size. Had a nice burst to get free on the play, but it is in high school, so who knows. Physically, he is kind of right between Maehl and Drew Davis.

If I remember correctly Cantu was fighting for playing time as a freshman last season before he got hurt and was forced to gray shirt.

Don't believe that's correct Mops. Cantu was grayshirted before getting into the mix at WR. Don't believe he participated in little or any of Fall camp.Mops wrote:If I remember correctly Cantu was fighting for playing time as a freshman last season before he got hurt and was forced to gray shirt.

Re: Blake Cantu..
Here is an article that explains Cantu and his injury a little better from last Summer. I expect him to be a player for us sooner than later, his HS team runs the same offense as us, and they are a powerhouse program, he is ahed of the curve in many aspects of the spread than some of the other younger guys.

Another one of those injuries I have personal experience with...
The first thing that happens after surgery is 6 weeks in a sling that basically straps the repaired arm to your side... Before you are allowed to begin rehab.
Symptoms include the inability to reach for a catch, and lack of flexibility.

I actually earned every one of them... Youthful exuberance is the best excuse I can come up with. The alternative is more like death wish or sheer stupidity, depending on your viewpoint!

Re: Blake Cantu..
Cantu does look like a poor mans Wes Welker. He has decent speed and size and very good hands. He played on a very accomplished HS team, they finished 2nd in the nation and almost beat Miami NW(Jacory Harris, Streeter, Aldarius etc) No offense to Pflu but he is a better player in every aspect. From everything that I heard if Cantu were 6'2 instead of 6' he would have been a solid 4* guy. He also turned down many late offers to stick with the ducks.
