I'm not that big a fan of Kristen Stewart either, based on a lot of the interviews she's given over the years. Finally got to see John Carter last night, albeit, on a Blu-Ray (Thank God for my Plasma screen)... Have to agree with the 8/10. A couple of tidbits...they tweeked the story (but it didn't hurt the story) for his travel to Mars and omitted one of the main races (for part 2 I'm guessing) so I am certain they are planning more movies but if this movie keeps faultering at the boxoffice who knows....sad.
Wounded activists, really? I'm shocked! Aren't there better things to complain about going on around the world? I think they have a little too much time on their hands...

Thanks for the review, I'll probably just go see it because it just because like you said, it looks similar to the good ole alien films. As a stand-alone film it was good maybe a 7/10 but I can t give this one any more than a 6-6.5/10 at most because it had to many misses with reagards to the other films. 3D effects were good and clearly they spent money on the film but why not stick to the original story line...I have a feeling I went in with too high of standards because I feel I'm being to cridical but damn it's a bloody prequel!
