I feel like I only would want to write code to make ownage's job easier and improve UX for GMs. Adding new features is a lot of work. Plus doing that would require commish to create a new save file. And putting all the draft players on rosters and simming their results. Creating the web page wouldn't be the worst part, but it's an extra load for ownage or jibba. So for me, I want to lessen their load in anyway possible.

Makes sense. I was under the impression that sims were happening as a part of the draft ratings process, so we could re-use that. Definitely don't want to add more load.

Having something automatically put people on the clock and notify them would be nice to move the draft along with commish having to check in every couple hours and manually update the topic

Totally, on the draft part. I’m already working on coding something that is an entire draft central web page where we make all the picks and where the notes and where the list of available players auto updates after each pick.

Unless I am not understanding what you are proposing, I would be against what you are proposing. If we know how rookies sim, that completely makes the notes irrelevant and will make risks less likely which hurts the draft IMO.

Part of the draft which makes it fun is the unknown

IF we went with offtheheezy's suggestion, I imagine we'd obsolete the notes. And just do the camp sims.

Maybe in order to keep the randomness of the draft, we could even just do like a single game, or like a very small sample where you can't really trust the results but it'd give you some sort of signal, similar to real life where Kyle Kuzma looked like a future all-star in summer league and then can't even shoot above 35% in the playoffs  .

But I also really like the way draft notes work right now too, so this is just over complicating things :)

Honestly, creating websites and comparing stats using excel are alil over my head.. also keep in mind when I sim I’m not using our current league file. After each draft, I sim a whole season. So all player ratings are all different. I sim 1 season check for 20-30 players in order of RL drafts, of course I keep up with players who were drafted in 2nd round who in RL had good careers. So I sim 1 season for 5 years and I do this 5 times. Just to make sure who are top players. Finding guys drafted by CPU not playing them and trading them to a trade who needs that particular position. Anytime you drafting in 10-20 it’s really just a crap shoot from my experience. When a A potential loses his potential, not much I can do.

I can upload files from those 5 time sims. I don’t have a FTP account so TK or Ownage would have to create a space for those files like preseason…. Also we would have to move dates for creating draft file. For instance this will be 89 draft, we would need to be working on 90 file.

I mean it is more work. But I don’t have a problem with it. Getting it started would take up the most work but after that it should run smooth.

Yea notes wouldn’t be needed.

As TK mentioned, definitely don’t want to add more work for either you or Ownage. Anything to help ease the work or you need an extra hand I’m willing to help out!

I like Ownage’s point about keeping the draft more random. Those high number of games would give that away haha.

Also in your sims was Schrempf always this bad

Honestly I think his skill set just didn’t work in this league when he came out the draft. He simmed like Drazen is simming. My guess is his first TC he lost his potential. Same goes for Pippen but you never know. Part of the game. I remember drafting Caron Butler in DASL 1.0 cause of his A potential, I think by year 3 he had none left. Reason Zyme left him off notes but I thought he had the potential to be a good player.

If you want to help though, make a list of current NBA players kids. And what draft class they would be. I think I missed Ryan Mutombo in DASL 1.0.

This new stuff at the top of the page seems to not be allowing certain links/sub-forums (like 'General Discussion) to be clicked that are near it (like something is in the way).

What device do you have this problem with? Works for me on Chrome.

It doesn't work on any browser on my phone or on my laptop(s)

*As an aside I also cannot populate the 'Username' field on the log in page on my phone on any browser and it only works on my laptop with explorer lol. But that's not new.
