Re: 5 star QB Dante Moore trending to UO? Edit: QUAAAAACK!
This has everything to do with NIL. We’re likely going to finish 2nd for the rest of the 5*s, Proctor being the only realistic one at this point, because of NIL.
It’s not the staff’s fault that our boosters aren’t willing to play the NIL game that others are. It’s well established that Phil and the rest aren’t willing to spend millions on kids who’ve never played a down of CFB. And I don’t blame them. If UCLA wants to pay Moore $10mil then good for them. They’re paying him more than Jalen Hurts is making. It’s insane.

I'm okay if the Boosters want to save the NIL $ for "proven" Portal players and retaining guys who blow up, but not getting in the game when you've spent so much on facilities is like the dumbest thing I can think of based upon their(Phil's) history.dthomas=ddixon wrote:This has everything to do with NIL. Literally the whole AAU Basketball circuit was Nike and Adidas paying coaches to pay players in the hopes they'd become so good they could build a sneaker line around them by getting to them early so it isn't like Phil is aghast at paying HS kids.

UCLA is taking a grad transfer QB. Apparently Oregon was also looking at him as well.

Will you stop with the sky is falling crap. Kids will flip no matter how hard a team recruits them, it's not a failure on the staff's part. Also, none of anything you have said has been reported to be true, only speculationlukesquared wrote:Wiltfong says Moore to UCLA is a done deal (via ScoopDuck). Oregon’s administration and coaching staff failed miserably on this one if true.

It has absolutely nothing to do with NIL and everything to do with playing time. I’m typing this after word surfaced that the Kent State kid is supposedly committing to UCLA but PRIOR to that if you looked at UCLA’s QB roster there are two names there Ethan Garbers and Justin_____(dont know his last name) so logically Moore sees a clearer route to early playing time than he maybe does if Nix stays. Lots of variables here but relatively little to do with NILdthomas=ddixon wrote:This has everything to do with NIL. Well were both talking in absolutes without evidence. I’m simply not buying the playing time thing. Everyone can say he doesn’t care about NIL but that means nothing when a school put millions in front of you.lmduck wrote:It has absolutely nothing to do with NIL and everything to do with playing time. I think NIL is being overblown, and become the new fan excuse any time a guy signs elsewhere. Rumors always emerge about outlandish NIL deals without much proof behind it. I don’t believe he actually has a $10M offer. I think the Ducks are competitive in the NIL realm, it is just the Nix factor and Dilly leaving coming in to play.dthomas=ddixon wrote:Well were both talking in absolutes without evidence. 5 star QB Dante Moore trending to UO? Edit: QUAAAAACK!
I don’t really see how he would definitely would have a clearer path. He would have to beat out the Kent state transfer, plus garbers and Martin to start next year. We’ve seen garbers in action and he wasn’t bad. Martin is an unknown at this point. Nix only has one year left, if he evens stays. After nix, we have only Thompson and we’ve seen how that has played out so far. I think NIL is playing a bigger part in this than you think.lmduck wrote:It has absolutely nothing to do with NIL and everything to do with playing time. In this case you may be right but it has for sure happened already with guys in the portal and other recruits. Oregon is not willing to compete with the aTm’s and Miami’s in the NIL game.droop10 wrote:I think NIL is being overblown, and become the new fan excuse any time a guy signs elsewhere. Exactly. I may have overstated things when I said it has everything to do with NIL but the idea that Moore is just so pure NIL is having zero affect on this recruitment is incredibly naive.HomeSickDuck wrote:I don’t really see how he would definitely would have a clearer path. Especially because all the other reasons for flipping are so not compelling.

Something weird is definitely happening. The reports that is was a done deal to UCLA said he was allegedly promised by Chip they wouldn’t bring in a transfer, so if the kid from Kent St. legitimately committed, that seems to contradict what’s out there. We also haven’t seen the Ducks try to pursue any other prep QBs, which I’d assume they would do before signing day if they felt strongly they’d lose him. Plus, if it’s a done deal, why not just announce it already? I don’t think anyone really knows what’s going on. I’m eager for the 21st to just come around.

JHop said Moore would have already announced but found out UCLA was pursuing other QBs.
Re: NIL stuff, JHop keeps saying that NIL isn’t a factor but Chad Simmons, the ON3 national guy, said it’s playing a big role in an article today.

And other sources have said the NIL deals are basically the same so no one really knows including Simmons.dthomas=ddixon wrote:JHop said Moore would have already announced but found out UCLA was pursuing other QBs.
