If they intend on throwing the ball, it won't matter if it is an All American out there or not. I'm sure we will give up a ton of yards and catches regardless of which receivers they put out there.

At least VA finally arrived, after being delayed by tornadoes in Dallas... Thank God he wasn't goofy enough to try renting a car for the drive to San Antonio, as was suggested by a poster on DT... That could have been a disaster.

I'm optimistic about our defense heading into this game. Seems like it has been awhile since we've had everyone at 100 percent.
I'd still prefer we make a change at the DC position, but this defensive unit showed down the stretch of the season that they're capable of showing up, and I get the feeling they'll be more pumped up for TCU than they were for the second half of the Oregon State game.

Any chance French will be back? I don't remember what happened to him.

These are the games we played down the stretch.
VS OSU Gave up 450yds and 42 points.
VS USC Gave up 420yds and 28 points in probably the best defensive showing all year.
VS Stanford Gave up 435yds and 36 points. At least we limited McAffree to 147yds rushing and 42 yards receiving.
VS CAL gave up 430yds and 28 points.
I don't know how many teams would be encouraged by those types of numbers. Yeah, it could be worse... and it was an improvement over what happened early in the year but it is hardly encouraging. The best thing our defense has going for it going into the bowl game is that most of TCU is banged up on offense.

I am encouraged by those games down the stretch because we dominated USC and Cal for most of the game, and we held our own against Stanford. If anything, our D had one bad quarter in each of the Cal and SC games that made things look much closer than they really were.
If you just look at the flat stats though, then I can see why you are skeptical. I'm not trying to pick a fight or anything. I don't blame you for being skeptical.

I think the last game is the one on most people's mind, at least it's on mine. Allowing an oregon state offense that was downright horrendous walk all over them was embarrasing

Anyone going to be down in SA for the game? How about the Alumni Tailgate?

Yeah, the second half letdown against OSU was unacceptable, and I really hate using that word.

Joe Walker's absence was felt to a terrifying degree. As in I'm terrified for next year without him.

Don't fret. Hotchkins will make you feel much better. I think Moi might even bring a smile to your face.
While we only have them for 2 years but they are going to light it up. They might even be good enough to mask our awful "D" scheme, strategy and calls (a.k.a - DP).

VA mic'd up for a practice down in SA. You can tell he's enjoying himself.
