Who gets the start boys

Just gonna point out some facts here.

Costa has been outplaying Masoli in camp, if this is open competition then why wouldn't Costa get the start?
Masoli was 7-3 as a starter last year, and barely gave us wins over Stanford/Arizona/UCLA.


Masoli should still start no question about it, but people seem to think that it's Masoli and nothing else.
Masoli had a couple some good games and some real bad games, IMO the Heisman talk is pretty ridiculous.

I'll pull out some facts here too.

In the first three games he started (not counting BSU) were Wazzu, SC, and UCLA. From those games, he was a combined 32 for 64, 359 yards, averaged 48% completion, 3 TD's, and 1 INT. His rushing stats were 40 rushes, 225 yards, and 1 TD.

In his last 3 games (Arizona, OSU, and OKst, keep in mind much better defenses) He went 50 for 75, 830 yards, 67% completion, 6 TD's, and 1 INT. Rushing stats: 38 rushes, 248 yards, and 7 TD's

Not to mention the countless reports of how Masoli has stepped up and accepted responsibility for being the leader of this team, and pushing himself and everyone around him to be better football players, and better people.

His only good game was against WSU and were the worst team in the nation last year!

I'll give you that he had good games against OSU/OSU/'Zona, but had awful games against UCLA/USC/Cal. And almost gave us losses to crappy teams like UCLA/'Zona/Stanford. Now that's good?


Good player, but over hyped. Costa is the better player, but Masoli has the game experience.

What's with all of the sudden negativity against Masoli? He came to Oregon during Fall camp and was our 5th string QB and couldn't practice due to an injured wrist. He was thrown into the first game and played well. He then lead us to a 10 win season, playing within his means while he learned the offense and the speed of the game. Costa may be great, but he has had 3 surgeries on the same knee and for all we know is one weird plant away from re-injuring it.

Exactly. The reason we all believe in Masoli is because of his incredible improvement over the span of 7 games. While he does still have room for improvement and heisman talk is a little presumptuous, he has shown everybody that he is willing to sacrifice himself to become the cornerstone of this team for the next two years. It's blasphemy that we are even asking this question.

There isn't even any point arguing about this, because Masoli is hands down the starting qb. If he gets injured or really struggles, then I'm sure we will see Costa. All I know is that Masoli made tremendous strides at the end of last season. He really improved and seemed to be on the same page as the rest of his offense. That's good enough for me. No point speculating how good Costa is right now.

Why the hell are people hating on Masoli?! How about we just have two very good QBs. One is an established starter who has won games both in blowout & come from behind fashion & the other has played in 2 games but done very well in practice. Some of you guys are like little girls, you just love drama & controversy.
