I have had some time to digest this over the sleepless night I had. Here are just a few thoughts.

1. I am not condoning what he did, BUT.....take a look at the video before the punch if you can find it. Amazingly, all video seems to only show Blounts punch to Hout. Hout shoved on Blount and mouthing off at the same time Peterson is visibly trying to restrain Hout. This is just before the punch. Obviously, whatever Hout said set the coach off enough to restrain the player. I am putting myself in Blounts shoes and I am standing in the midst of Broncos and someone hits me on the shoulder while mouthing off. I'm not so sure my reaction wouldn't be the same. Again, I am not condoning what he did, but I understand it. Even Peterson himself was interviewed right after and was talking about emotions of the game because he knew his player was equally at fault.

2. Let's try to see the bigger picture here. If you kick him off the team, what happens to him? It's not like he took drugs or stole from other players, he reacted in the heat of the moment. Again, I am not condoning what he did. Do you completely toss this young man's life under the bus for that? The responsibility of the school is to educate our children and help them be successful. If you kick him off the team, this alters his life forever. Seriously. He loses his scholarship and has to leave school. This young man is on the verge of going left or right. This incident can send him down a sad road. I say you suspend him for 3 games, have him attend anger management classes AND do community service.

To me, you'll make more of an impact by helping him through this vs. just tossing him out with the garbage. Of course, I am a mother and cannot imagine what his mother must be going through. I say help the young man out. That speaks bigger of the program than just cutting him loose.

Thank you. I am sad beyond words about this. I also do believe he needs to make amends with his teammates. Everybody needs to be okay. He must work hard to repair the damage.

How incredibly embarrassing for the Program, the School, the Fans, and how much does this hurt recruiting? Parents really were impressed last night and want to send their kid all the way to the West Coast for that?

I've slept on it now, and it's still completely unacceptable and given past run ins with team discipline I honestly believe he should be gone. I'm sorry Blount, loved cheering you on but as many have said it gives the program a black eye. He basically punched our program in the face. I will keep in mind that I really am just a fan so I can't fully understand the ins and outs of how this will be dealt with or why they will give whatever punishment they do, but something tells me those in charge of it will be fair in assessing the situation.

I read somewhere that MB mentioned suspension since it didn't happen during a game. We'll see.

Agreed, but of course just like one player on Oregon's team can make the program look bad, a few Boise fans and players could make them look bad.

seems fair to me! he needs to use the next few weeks to work harder than ever both physically and in getting the trust back from his team mates. I hope this is true. I don't want him gone but I would understand if that's what happened.

This is one of those times that everyone talks about in your life when you face a fork in the road. Not to get philosophical, but if he is only suspended, I hope he truly understands what a huge gift he has been given. Let's hope he becomes a changed man. I still think anger management classes should be mandatory.

Good point! He is the new commissioner and probably going to want to make an example out of the ducks.

This is my own opinion, but if you truly want to send a national message, BOTH players should be punished equally. It's not all Blounts fault. He was taunted and that should not be acceptable either. I think whatever LaGarrette gets, Hout gets as well.

Hout hit blount on the shoulder and said "who whooped who's ass!?" Then coach pete started trying to restrain him and BOOOOM down for the count. It wasn't an acceptable reaction but after thinking about it I think it should just be a multiple game games but not be kicked off the team. He was taunted and did what he did, lets move on. I'm excited to see lamichael get more carries.
