Re: Early Signing Day 2021
It'll be interesting to see where Jones ends up since he could play on either side of the ball (TE on offense or DL/OLB on defense.)

Looking at his 247 page it lists Don as his recruiter too. If I were a betting man I'd say it means we lost Cyrus Moss but gained Anthony Jones at LB.WestCoastDux wrote:Via Don Johnson Jr.'s twitter
Me thinks Oregon just got a flip! EDIT: Anthony Jones

Interesting trend........defense, defense, defense and more defense......and a huge roadgrader TE.Duck07 wrote:Signed Today
Michael Wooten - OL 3*
Devon Jackson - ILB 4*
Sir Mells - DT 3*
Harrison Taggart - ILB 4*
Ben Roberts - DT 4*
Jalil Tucker - CB 4*
Anthony Jones - ATH 3* (Flipped from Texas)
I am actually good with this. I think our offensive players already on campus can compete for the Pac-12 championship, but moreso, the days of us being able to laugh off USC are over. So while small, I am liking this recruiting class.

Pretty darn good day all things considered. Next signing day will likely be really nice too. Will be interesting to track things as guys transfer and more schollies open up too.

Re: Early Signing Day 2021
I think Jones is going to play LB/Edge for us and that's its real easy for us to sell the potential of the Defense based on who our new coach is. Dave Iuli could end up gone simply because Lake under-recruited him and Deboer isn't but one upshot with having a HC who specializes on 1 side of the ball is that it can make recruiting that side a lot easier to sell. There are also a few more Defensive guys like Gracen Halton who tweeted he was still a Duck to come in too.QuackininBama wrote:Interesting trend........defense, defense, defense and more defense......and a huge roadgrader TE.Duck07 wrote:Signed Today

How about Shemar Stewart as a surprise? 247 says he was recruiting by our new Head Coach.

After I stopped laughing (at our chances), this might be not that far off.Duck07 wrote:

We have an SEC head coach
ACC offensive coordinator
We are not in the SEC so on the west coast its an easier path to the CFP
KT is going to be in the top 5 in the NFL draft, so the Ducks do have a decent pipeline to the NFL
We are not rebuilding. While we got stomped twice by Utah, we were still a 10 win team
MC is going to recruit him hard, but lets face it, Miami is a complete rebuild from the ground up
It's not out of this world unreasonable, and I read at one time he had an interest in Oregon. Its something to watch.

Re: Early Signing Day 2021
Wasn’t there a LB that was supposed to sign with Georgia today but changed his mind last night or this morning and is going to wait until February to announce. Would be another one to watch. I’ll go back through some threads and see if I can find it, can’t remember what one it was posted in.QuackininBama wrote:After I stopped laughing (at our chances), this might be not that far off.Duck07 wrote:

What's even better about Jones flipping to Oregon is he's another former UW commit who's signed with the Ducks, joining Mells and Roberts.

Some bad recruiting early in this signing period. It'll be interesting to see what it looks like after February's National Signing Day.

What are we thinking?
Hold onto McMillan and Halton and add back Florence, Iuli, and Williams and it has to be considered a "win" given the circumstances?

Re: Early Signing Day 2021
I hope we can hold on to McMillan. We don’t need him necessarily but he’s a massive talent that it would suck to lose, especially to Zona ha. Seems like his sticking is dependent on BMac being retained… so hopefully Lanning has a decision on that before Friday.
