Mind numbing. Transfer portal…different dates for those windows…recruiting high school players…free agency…NIL…I can’t keep up. There has to be some governance at some point. I honestly don’t know how the staff keeps their sanity. With all these variables, there has to be shenanigans going on unchecked. But what else would anyone expect from the NCAA? Seems like nothing has been solved, as far as compliance, but that the entire goal of players wanting to be paid has been placated.

Honestly, who really needs to follow it all? You could basically ignore all the silly-season stuff and just catch up in the spring and fall.

I used to be big into the recruiting roller coaster but now I just wait until signing day to see how things turn out.

With all of the talent influx over the past two recruiting classes, I think Lanning and staff will be extremely picky in who they send Portal offers out on.

6'7 tight end Tanner Koziol from Ball State is entering the portal. He's not exactly a stellar athlete but he's a massive target who catches absolutely everything. I'd expect Oregon to be a player.

Thought I saw somewhere that a TE out of BYU was entering the portal. Not sure how good he was. He was a backup, but did have some experience.

Easy to see Oregon go after Florida TE who just entered the portal.

The problem with Boardingham, if the articles I have read are accurate, is that blocking seems to be the weakest part of his game. He looks closer to Sadiq in body/playing style, rather than a true "Y" tight end that could compliment Sadiq. That doesn't necessarily disqualify him as an option, since the Ducks may look to bring in more than 1 transfer TE, but it doesn't seem ideal.

Ideally, the Ducks would find a Moliki Matavao type clone. A big, physical masher with enough athleticism to catch a few balls once in a while.

If bringing in two tight ends is an option now, they could go for a prolific pass catcher like Tanner Koziol (I have no idea what his blocking is like) and look for a Casey Kelly type 1 year rental for depth insurance and to fill the role of a blocking specialist, particularly in short yardage/goal line situations.

Purdue's starting TE is now in the portal. There'll be no shortage of good TEs for Oregon to get.

Which also means saturating the market and not having to commit all your chips to that position. I don't think we'll be as lucky with offensive tackle.

TE was never going to be a position they had to spend big on. OT and Edge are easily the hardest positions to pull in top talent without having to spend big money.

Edge I’m not worried about. We are deep there with multiple blue chip guys. LT, I’m hoping JCJ comes back. If he leaves, he’s mocked as a 2nd rounder. But come back, and there is a good shot he is a top 15 pick next year. The difference in money should make it worth it for him.

Have to strongly disagree with this. Most of the guys with the correct size/athleticism play basketball.

And how long has it been since Oregon has had a TE that is a strong blocker and pass catcher?

Look at what Brock Bowers did. Absolutely dominant. Never a liability on the field. Lack of TE blocking is probably one of the things is one of the things that has limited the run game these past few years (since before Breeland, really). Letting Matavao go was a huge mistake. He's better than Ferg. It's so much harder to defend a guy who is a good receiver/good blocker than it is a guy who is a great receiver / bad blocker.

I'm just saying that on average, top/contributing TEs tend to come cheaper via the transfer portal than starting OTs and Edges.

Another big time TE target has hit the portal.
