Keep an eye on how Miami & Virginia are ranked in the next AP poll. Virginia moved up a spot in the Coach's & Miami stayed put. Oregon moved up to 4...
Before the first CFP rankings, the AP did some pre-adjusting to get closer what the committee wanted, for example, Oregon went down on a win and other teams moved up on a loss(?) to align closer to that first CFP ranking. The AP ranking could telegraph how the committee will deal with their ACC problem.

It might also Telegraph who the last in and out are also. I noticed in this latest ranking they put Missouri at 25. So who have they beaten? Nobody, absolutely nobody. Their best wins are probably Kansas and Auburn, but putting Missouri in the top 25 helps one particular bubble team... Alabama. If Alabama loses in the SEC championship game, having that extra top 25 win might be enough to push them into the playoffs over a more deserving team like BYUduckpoint wrote: Sun Nov 30, 2025 12:24 pm Keep an eye on how Miami & Virginia are ranked in the next AP poll. Yeah, the Misery ranking is all about setting up other SEC teams over others. Being that Miami moved up 1 spot tells me they want to squeeze Miami in. My understanding is the winner of Duke/Virginia is automatic and the G5 spot may be more of a suggestion. BYU should be in no matter what, but it seems that they are setting up to bend/break their rules to get Miami in. So, who knows until Dec. 7th and we can watch the meltdowns.

Also helps them justify keeping Texas ATM in the top 4 if they decide to go that route.squintsdd wrote: Sun Nov 30, 2025 1:09 pmIt might also Telegraph who the last in and out are also. I think if Duke beats UVA and the conference doesn't get an auto-bid, then they will try to put Miami in the playoff as an at-large. Otherwise, I can't imagine them putting 2 ACC teams in with how that conference looks compared with the other 3.

Duke/Virginia is not automatic. If Duke and JMU both win, as the ACC champ Duke will be out ranked by multiple G5 conference champs. The auto bids go to 5 highest ranked conference champions. The spots are not reserved for P4 conference champs.duckpoint wrote: Sun Nov 30, 2025 1:40 pm Yeah, the Misery ranking is all about setting up other SEC teams over others.
