Did he handle the playcalling duties, or was it Eric Morris calling plays as Head Coach?

From what I read online, Davis called the plays.

Watch the full games and you will see pistol that does not work quite often. The reason that you rarely see it on highlights is because it rarely works, and works less with pocket passers.

My turn to be controversial….

After watching a replay of the Husky game i think we will be better off without Stein, assuming Dan makes a good hire. I want an OC less focused on “efficiency”, design, and gadget plays, and an OC that will utilize our offense personnel’s strengths vs the opposing defense’s weaknesses. Too often it feels so difficult for our offense, and this season they’ve been unable to execute on key drives with the opportunity to put their foots on the opponents throats. We’ve seen this with the Iowa, USC, and Washington games. I’ve seen a lot of excuses for Stein, such as it’s on the players, injuries, etc, and there may be some truth to that, but ultimately over the last three years I haven’t seen an OC that has made things easier for our players nor have I seen an OC that is able to utilize our strengths and exploit the opposing defensive weaknesses.

I know a lot will disagree, but that’s my opinion. I think Dan can and will, upgrade at OC with Stein’s departure and I think deep down Dan knows it.

No disagreement from me. Stein is a good OC, but our offense always seems to underperform despite having such incredible talent. You can only blame players and injuries for so long before you've got to point fingers at coaching as well. I don't think upgrading should be too big of an ask.

Good God this board is an eye roll at times.

I’m happy for Will. Look at our numbers in efficiency and explosion plays and the truth is in the numbers.

“Well he struggled when he faced elite defenses”. No $h!t guys…Chip struggled, Dilly Struggled, good defenses are, in a shocking development…GOOD.

It’s annoying AF to get on here and watch our OC’s get trashed if we don’t put up 500+ yards and 42+ points a game.

Anyway. Rant over. Give me the OC from SJSU. The “spread and shred” dude who played at Hawaii.

10 months from now we will be on here listening to you all b!tch and moan about whomever the new OC is, because with this stable of offensive talent we should be outscoring teams (also with scholarship talent and paid coaches) 100-0.

I'll throw in Dean Kennedy at James Madison. He's still young and green so it's a bit of a risk, but his offense led the Patriot League in scoring at Holy Cross and the Sun Belt in scoring at JMU.

I wonder if Lanning would welcome any input from Dante (or any other players) on who the next OC should be.

After ruminating on this a bit I can see a world in which that conversation is had in regards to keeping Dante for another year and getting an OC that will help prepare QBs for the NFL since whatever Oregon offers him as part of his NIL deal will include why staying helps him long-term in the NFL.

Nick Aliotti usually fielded respectable defenses (sometimes great ones) with extremely average talent across the board and people here wanted his head.

Will Stein regularly underperforms (even against weaker competition, which is the most aggravating) despite having ELITE talent in the trenches and at the skill positions and people just make excuses.

Seriously, though, forget about all these other names, if what we really want is a meh recruiter who can call plays then let's give Mark Helfrich a call, he'd be an upgrade over Stein.

Stein has been solid this year ever since the Indiana game. This is one of the few years in my history as a duck fan that i've actually been pleased with our play-calling. Stein has been very good since Indiana.
