Based on attrition and graduations, they're definitely hitting DB. Will be interesting to see how true FR like Benjamin, Washington, and Jackson mesh with RS FR like Brew and McNutt and true SO Offord.

Here's my updated needs list after the first day of the portal:
QB: yes if Moore leaves
RB: 1-2 if Riggs, Limar and Hughes all leave
WR: 1-2
TE: no
OL: at least 1 OT but may need 2-3 OL depending on their guards
DE/EDGE: maybe 1
DL: 1
LB: 1
DB: 2-3
K/P: 1 punter
That's up to 15 players Oregon may need to add

I'm looking at the chart shared in the OPs post below and there are questions not just at CB, but also at both Edge spots, as well as DL and Safety.
https://chileduck.com/oregon/depthchart.html
Will Dillon Thieneman Jr. return? If not, we'll be very young at that position.
Jadon Canady R-Sr. graduates. Who will replace him now that Austin is gone?
A'Mauri Washington Jr. is being talked about as a 1st round pick, so I wouldn't blame him for making the jump. We'll definitely need an experienced DT.
What about our Defensive Ends? Matayo Uiagalelei and Teitum Tuioti are both Juniors who could declare. They would leave huge holes.
On offense, Emmanuel Pregnon, Alex Harkey and Isaiah World all graduate. Genorris Wilson and Fox Crader both played will when there were injuries, but that was only temporary. I think we need a couple solid O-lineman from the portal. I have a lot of respect for what what those guys accomplished this season, but they had obvious struggles against good defenses, especially World. I think he'd have improved a lot with another year of Big-10 competition, but he doesn't.
I think we could use at least 1, maybe 2 receivers. We have a lot of talent there but we're also very young.
I would imagine Dante may base part of his decision whether to stay or not on who the Coaches can bring in on the O-Line. They need to add a couple proven guys to protect him or I could see him going to the NFL. If he'd be running for his life, he may as well get paid more to do it, right? I hope Lanning has some studs on his radar.
Thoughts?

Ify plays arguably the toughest position on D for a fr to succeed at. I’d say compared to past cb, he’s ahead at this stage of lots of former nfl cb we’ve had. I don’t see him out there giving up bombs or really even many catches. There is always going to be a give and take when on one side you have essentially a shut down corner, the other side will get targeted more. He has already improved a ton, image how good he and Finney will be in 2 years, along with Benjamin in the slot, Jett and Flowers R Safety and McNutt working his way in. Our pass D will be insane in a year or 2.
That all said, give me Koi Perich also please.
Also need a tackle, we had way too many injuries on the OL. Would absolutely love to land Jake Guarnera
And the LB from Pitt also
Plus a top end speed rusher.
And a big bodied WR.

Yea, we talk about our offensive tackles a lot, but going into next season we have big question marks at guard. Whereas Trent Ferguson and Fox Crader rotated at tackle and give you some hope to hold onto for the future, we didn't see that at guard or center behind Poncho. Maybe Ferguson goes inside for a season and you hope Iuli takes a step forward (at first glance, he actually seemed to do alright against TTU). We have some big time freshmen who can play guard or tackle coming in, but I don't love the idea of asking them to block 5th year seniors with grown man strength and a deep bag of tricks before they even start college classes.

I actually feel pretty good about Iuli with Poncho returning and if there's a chance Harkey can get a Pavia-year we should move him inside.
I hope we don't lose any of our young tackles even if/when we bring at least 1 Portal OT in because it kind of feels like by 2027 there should be a strong group of those talented young guys who've had the benefit of the strength program for a few years to start making their mark.

Certainly if an existing player gets a miracle eligibility year. Is that on the radar? I wasn't aware there was hope for Harkey to get another year.

Malik Benson as well may have an outside chance at another year. If he comes back definitely don’t take any receivers in the portal.

I was told Utu has been playing guard in practice and looking pretty good. Hopefully thats true. Ideally I’d like to no mt need 3 portal guys again. I really like what both Fox and Wilson showed this year, unfortunately Wilson seems to be injury prone.

Looks like the rumor going around now is Simpson will be a duck, if Moore leaves. Seems like solid replacement. Although I believe fairly strongly, the best thing for Moores nfl career. Would be to return one more year. Hope the Raiders, Browns and Jets all take a qb, and get drafted by literally anyone else but those three QB career ending destinations

Penn State tight end Andrew Olesh, who the ducks were heavily involved with late in the 2025 cycle, is in the portal.

I’d say linebacker is a need.
Question about dbs. Wasn’t Offord considered a major get for Oregon. Is he a cb or a safety?

Cornerback. But corners can usually move to safety, whereas safeties rarely can move to corner.

This would be a good grab, but TE isn't necessarily an area of need

Counting the 21 incoming freshman + Bair coming back from his mission, how many scholarships do we have available for transfers? 10-12?
