Clutch hitting! I knew we'd discover it eventually.

5-0 Oregon, taking advantage of another Dirtbag miscue and a Hambright RBI single.

Screw Mcgough. If you cannot hold a 6-1 lead then you stink. Way too many blown games from this team already.

I think McGough may be close to losing his closing job if he can't hold teams anymore. He's blown just about every game he's been in so far.

I really, really would like to know what's up with him. He was superb last year, got that US amateur team invite, dominated his summer league, and now he literally cannot do anything. Undisclosed injury? Psychological issue? Piss off the wrong baseball god?greenyellow wrote:I think McGough may be close to losing his closing job if he can't hold teams anymore. Props to Boer, who was, once again, unhittable tonight. He had thusfar escaped the curse of our bullpen, but I guess it was his turn to experience its wrath. It seems like usually its Anderson who the 'pen screws over.
We don't exactly play the toughest of OOC schedules this year, blow too many chances and we'll be sweating out an invite to the Tournament even with a good Pac-10 showing. I hope Horton has a stress ball or something, knowing him he's about two seconds away from going Bob Knight on the team for it's perpetual screw-ups.

Horton probably hasn't lost complete confidence in McGough, but I'm sure he's getting close to.oregontrack wrote:I really, really would like to know what's up with him. Yikes, that's pretty bad. I've kinda lost touch with the baseball team lately but McGough is getting roughed up. Move him back to the bullpen and get someone else to close.duckgrad99 wrote:Screw Mcgough. If you cannot hold a 6-1 lead then you stink. Way too many blown games from this team already.

Well, the closer is part of the bullpen. But I know what you mean.
My wild, crazy idea would be to switch McGough and Kuedall for a bit, just to see what would happen. It's always been my opinion that Kuedall works best in small doses, and opposing batters seem to figure him out by the 2nd and 3rd time through the order. Let McGough start a weekday game, he's been a very effective starter in the past. Kuedall's worked out of the bullpen with success before. If it bombs, figure something else out before Pac-10 season.

3-1 Dirtbags, top 7. Jones was perfect into the 5th, but the Dirtbags loaded the bases and got a double in the 6th.
