Definitely one of the weirdest recruiting situations I’ve ever followed. So much confusion and contradictions from insiders, and the decision still doesn’t make much sense. All the supposed reasons for the flip are so not compelling; anything UCLA has to offer Oregon can easily match and outdo, unless of course, UCLA has given him a massive NIL deal.

TBF, beyond NIL and Oregon being the better football program, Ucla is viewed by most as a far better university and a lot of kids are interested in being in the LA area.

But those weren’t the things that motivated him a month ago. That’s what’s weird. Obviously Dillingham leaving played a big role but flipping to UCLA of all places is what’s confounding.

Chip was about to be fired before having just an OK season this year, and in 5 years as a starter, DTR never became what he was hyped up to be. Their roster is not going to be good any time soon. The move to the B1G means like 7 games in his home state (19% of all their games over the next 4 years). They just brought in a really good transfer QB with 2 years of eligibility so immediate playing time is not there now.

Next year has always been about Bo Nix returning as it is. It sucks if we do in fact lose Moore because he looks to have all the traits you want in a QB.

Maybe we get him in the 2023 Portal since relationship-building with HS recruits will be how you get a leg-up when they hit the Portal but we've got an awfully appealing offensive starting group for whoever takes over.

This is strictly a personal opinion and I could be way off base, but I don’t see Chip lasting much longer at UCLA. The fan base does not love him and while I have no insights, I get the impression he does not love the college game anymore. He does not seem enthralled over the move to the Big 10 and we know he hates recruiting.

A couple of friends who are UCLA alums and pretty serious fans told me they think if a decent NFL OC job opens he would jump. Again just a comment they made based on the chatter they hear at alumni gatherings and tailgaters.

There have been rumors stating otherwise, mainly because of his relationship with Stein.
