Re: Blazers
I'm still not worried about the team leaving. Either Silver doesn't really know what he's talking about or he's just speaking on behalf of leverage. Moda needs renovations but to suggest we'd need an entirely new arena is laughable. We're in the upper half for capacity and top third for attendance. Building is still in great shape, it's plenty big enough, there's trains and parking, and the surrounding neighborhood is poised to get a Phil-funded facelift. There is absolutely an ownership group out there that would keep the team here and recognize the cash cow of this franchise in this market.
Willie Taggart is a dick.

Re: Blazers
Salaries are way up, and viewership way down since Ichabod Crane took over the reins of the league. He needs to be replaced far more than Moda. His product is stale.

Re: Blazers
I feel so incredibly validated by my years-long criticisms of Joe Cronin having absolute no ****ing idea how to do his job.I'm just here for the meltdown.
I'm also so incredibly excited, because Cronin already ****ed up the rebuild so who cares anymore? Let's just ****ing GO!!!!!!!! DAME TIME!!!!

Re: Blazers
Honestly, at the end of the day, I don’t think it helps or hurts them significantly. He won’t be playing this year, and $14M isn’t going to hamstring them one way or another. They aren’t going to miss out on anyone because of this contract.

Jrue and now Dame… is Mike Conley next?
I like the move if they can somehow get off of Jrue’s money. I bet they regret that one.

Re: Blazers
Why on earth $14 million/per year? Are they getting parts of it covered by insurance due to the injury? That could make some sense. 3 years is the only reasonable contract though, cause the first year your paying him to rehab, year 2 is half that and half way back. Year 3 is the first realistic time to expect any sort of anything.

Re: Blazers
The Blazers are dead. There is zero reason having to do with being a competitive team to pay old/injured Lillard $16 million to not play. I was born in the Bay Area. I am a Giants fan, a 49er fan. Why didn't I also root for the Warriors growing up? It's all Clyde Drexler's fault. Even he abandoned the team though because he wanted to actually win.pezsez1 wrote: Thu Jul 17, 2025 3:04 pmI love that your reaction is to basically nuke the site from orbit.Okay, I changed my mind, go ahead and move the team to Vegas.
The funny part is that all of these idiot fans are so happy to have him back. Nobody cares about actually winning here. My one consolation is that Lillard will never win anything in his career. He took all the millions instead and I hope he chokes on them.

Re: Blazers
Is $14 mill a year very much in the NBA? Seems like a bargain to try and sell tickets. Kind of like the Mariners bringing back Jr at the end of his career. Maybe he can help Scoot learn how to actually be a decent NBA player?

Re: Blazers
Maybe they witnessed not enough summer improvement from Scoot, and that he is not the long term answer. I am neutral on moves they are making. The whole franchise from players to management might get nuked once a new owner is on board.
